2024 RTSports Outlook

Shaheed about doubled his stats from his previous season, catching 46 receptions for 719 yards and five touchdowns. He was 44th overall in fantasy receiver scoring. He had some big games, including two with 20-plus fantasy points. Shaheed has been a top big-play receiver for the Saints to start his career, averaging 16.3 yards per receptions. He could earn a starting role form day one this year, starting opposite Chris Olave. Shaheed has great speed for the position and can get down the field in a hurry. He is the top deep threat for the Saints in the passing game. His route running could use a little work and his injury history in college (two torn ACLs) is a bit of a concern.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Shaheed is a good late-round gamble for fantasy teams. He has some big-game potential. Shaheed could get around 50 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed built on his rookie campaign, setting new career highs in receptions (46), receiving yards (719) and receiving touchdowns (five). His sophomore year was full of big plays, including trips to the end zone of 34, 39, 45, and 58 yards. These resulted in spike weeks, but minimal consistency throughout the season. This was partially because of his limited role in the offense, playing more than 70% of the snaps just three times. The good news for the speedster is that the Saints' wide receiver corps is very thin after Chris Olave, headlined by A.T. Perry and Cedric Wilson Jr. He should have no problem slotting in as the No. 2 wideout for a team that ranked in the top 10 in points scored, passing attempts, and passing touchdowns in 2023. Shaheed's variability creates a challenge in managed leagues where predicting his boom performances can be difficult, but he remains an upside flex option, who is an even better asset in best ball formats.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (hamstring) sat out his second straight practice on Sunday. The assumption was that Shaheed would return on Sunday after sitting out on Saturday for a rest day. Possibly, Shaheed is dealing with more serious of an issue then first reported. Once healthy, Shaheed is expected to fill the No. 2 wide receiver role behind Chris Olave on this offense. That should lead to increased targets and usage for Shaheed for this upcoming season. Fantasy managers will have to check back on his status in a few days.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (hamstring) is a little banged up after Saturday's practice session. Head coach Dennis Allen said Shaheed is dealing with hamstring tightness and will be evaluated on Sunday. This is not good news for an already thin wide receiver group in New Orleans. Shaheed figures to have a decently sized role in the offense this upcoming season. He hauled in 46 receptions for 719 yards and five touchdowns through 15 games last season. There should be more information on the severity of the injury later in the weekend.

Dynasty | The Saints have signed wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to a contract extension. Dynasty Analysis: The modest $5.2 million to keep Shaheed in New Orleans for at least the next two seasons cuold prove to be a relative bargain. Last year, Shaheed took a nice second year leap, finishing with a 46/719/5 line on nearly 16 yards per catch. Chris Olave remains the primary threat for the Saints but the wide receiver corps is spotty after that, leaving Shaheed an opportunity for an even bigger season next year. He remains one of the better late round dynasty picks this off-season.

Jul 20 9:50pm ET

Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed agreed to a one-year, $5.2 million contract to remain in New Orleans. He spent 27 games with the Saints over the last two seasons, totaling 74 catches for 1,207 yards and seven touchdowns. While Shaheed could have a few decent fantasy performances during the 2024-25 campaign, his most significant contributions will likely continue to come as a member of special teams, with the 25-year-old making the Pro Bowl last season as a return specialist.

Mar 9 11:30pm ET

The New Orleans Saints tendered the exclusive rights to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed for a one-year tag worth $985,000. Shaheed caught 46 passes for 719 receiving yards and five touchdowns over five touchdowns in 15 games in 2023. The Saints plan to release Michael Thomas this offseason, and Shaheed could secure New Orleans' No. 2 receiver role behind top wideout Chris Olave. While Thomas was sidelined from Weeks 12 through 18, Shaheed caught 15 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns over five games. The 25-year-old did miss two weeks due to a thigh injury. Shaheed has always been a boom-or-bust fantasy option and is a better fantasy option in best-ball leagues than standard PPR formats.
