The Seattle Seahawks defense/special teams will get a rookie quarterback in Bo Nix when the Denver Broncos visit Seattle in Week 1. The Seahawks' defense should be improved in 2024, especially with head coach Mike Macdonald coming over from the Baltimore Ravens. Rookie quarterbacks tend to struggle in the NFL. Nix has more college experience than most rookie quarterbacks. However, his first matchup is in one of the most hostile and difficult stadiums to visit in the NFL. The Seahawks D/ST will be without pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu (knee) but linebacker Jerome Baker (hamstring) seems on track to return from his absence. It is possible that the Seahawks D/ST was not drafted in your fantasy draft. If they hit waivers, they should be an automatic add-and-start for your team.

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix was named one of the team captains for the upcoming season. He's the first Denver rookie to be selected as a captain since 1967. The 12th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft won the starting quarterback job over Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson in training camp. Receiver Courtland Sutton, guard Quinn Meinerz, cornerback Pat Surtain II, linebacker Alex Singleton, and kicker Wil Lutz will also sport captain patches on their jerseys this fall. Nix is RotoBaller's 27th-ranked quarterback for fantasy football this season and only needs to be rostered as a QB3 in Dynasty and Superflex formats while he adjusts to the NFL game. The Broncos travel to Seattle for a matchup against the Seahawks in Week 1.

Aug 23 6:10pm ET

Denver Broncos rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix won't play in the team's preseason finale on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Backup Jarrett Stidham will make the start against Arizona before third-stringer Zach Wilson replaces him. "I'd like to see (Stidham) get 8 to 12 plays, and then we'll get a lot of work with Zach (beginning) at some point in that first or early second quarter," said head coach Sean Payton. Nix not starting doesn't come as a surprise after Payton named him the starting QB following the second preseason game last Sunday versus the Green Bay Packers. The 24-year-old will make his regular-season debut on Sept. 8 against the Seahawks on the road in Seattle. The former Oregon signal-caller could be a nice fit in Payton's offense, but expect growing pains. In fantasy, treat him as more of a QB3 in superflex leagues.

Dynasty | The Denver Broncos have named Bo Nix their starting quarterback. Dynasty Analysis: As expected. The Broncos promoted a "competition" between Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson but Nix was the heavy favorite after Denver jettisoned Russell Wilson. Sean Payton clearly has all his eggs in the Nix basket, so he was going to do all he could to make this a reality. Nix helped him out by having a solid preseason and looking like he has veteran poise already. Nix will be a QB2 to start but he's certainly in position for early success.

Aug 21 2:40pm ET

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has named rookie quarterback Bo Nix the starter for the regular-season opener on Sept. 8 against the hosting Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field. After shining by completing eight of his nine passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over the Green Bay Packers, Nix has forced the hand of the coaching staff to thrust him right under center for Week 1. The 24-year-old Oregon standout was the No. 12 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and while he's more of a QB2 for fantasy purposes to begin the year, Nix's presence will certainly offer Denver's offense far more upside over Jarrett Stidham or Zach Wilson. There should be plenty of ups and downs for Nix in Year 1, but the Broncos' offense becomes more exciting all around with this decision.

Dynasty | Broncos quarterback Bo Nix compoleted 8-of-9 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in Denver's preseason game against the Packers. Dynasty Analysis: Simply put, Nix has done nothing to make Sean Payton think of starting anyone else week one. This was the latest positive sign as he looked poised in the pocket and again took care of the football. Nix looks like a player with five years of college experience and ready to take on his new challenge. At this point, he's looked competent enough to keep the fantasy values of Courtland Sutton, Javonte Williams, and others afloat, though there will clearly be some bumps in the road. He remains a second round rookie pick in conventional drafts and creeping higher in 2QB leagues as we await official confirmation of him starting.

Aug 19 11:40am ET

According to a report, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is poised to be named the team's starter soon. Nix has delivered impressive performances in his first two preseason games, completing 23 of 30 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns, a 76.7% completion rate, and a standout 116.7 QB rating. Despite his strong showing, head coach Sean Payton has yet to name him the Week 1 starter officially. "Listen, he's played well," Payton said Sunday. "I'm not announcing any starting quarterback tonight. I'll let you guys know when the time comes, but I thought he played well." While Payton may be hesitant to make a formal announcement, it's clear to Broncos faithful that Nix's poise, control, and confidence make him the likely choice. Although Nix may not have significant fantasy value himself, his performance boosts the Broncos' offense and optimism for the team's skill players.

Denver Broncos rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix only helped his chances of winning the QB competition in the team's 27-2 preseason win over the visiting Green Bay Packers on Sunday evening, completing eight of his nine pass attempts for 80 yards and a touchdown. Nix also carried the ball three times for 12 yards. The 12th overall pick out of Oregon got the start in this one after Jarrett Stidham started the preseason opener. Through two preseason contests, the 24-year-old has been much more impressive than Stidham with his poise running the offense while displaying a rocket arm. Nix went 15-for-21 last week against the Colts for 125 yards and a touchdown. His lone TD pass on Sunday was a four-yarder to receiver Tim Patrick. An illegal forward pass took away a potential second touchdown pass. Denver still has one preseason game remaining, but as of now, Nix appears to be the favorite to open the regular season as the Broncos' starter under center.

According to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is the favorite to be named the team's starter. The rookie has been working with the first team over Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham during practices and will begin Sunday's preseason matchup with the Packers. In addition, he will also play all the snaps with the offensive starters. At any rate, the latest update improves Nix's standing with fantasy managers moving toward Week 1. However, he has a long way to go before being considered a reliable fantasy signal-caller.

Aug 14 9:20pm ET

Denver Broncos rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix will start his first game this Sunday at home against the Green Bay Packers in the second preseason game. Nix was a solid 15-of-21 passing for 125 yards and a touchdown pass while adding 17 yards on the ground. The offense under Nix scored two touchdowns, looking poised in his first action as a pro. Nix looks to carry this momentum with him into this Sunday's game with the Packers in front of a home crowd that will be excited to see the No. 12 pick from April's NFL Draft suit up. The quarterback situation for Week 1 of the regular season is up in the air at this point, but another strong performance from the former Oregon Duck will go a long way toward cementing his status as the starting quarterback to open the NFL season.

Aug 11 4:40pm ET

In relief of Denver Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham on Sunday in the team's preseason opener at Lucas Oil Stadium against the hosting Indianapolis Colts, rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix saw extensive action and made a statement in the QB competition. The 12th overall pick out of Oregon went 15-for-21 passing for 125 yards and a touchdown while also carrying the ball three times for 17 yards. In total, Nix led the Broncos to two touchdowns in five drives and didn't take a sack, with Stidham throwing a pick in his two series of work. Not only did the 24-year-old signal-caller look to be a good fit with head coach Sean Payton calling plays, but he looked poised running the offense and showed plenty of athleticism. Denver isn't going to name a starting QB until probably after their third preseason contest, but after Sunday's action, Nix already looks like the better option in 2024. His lone TD pass was a one-yarder to Marvin Mims Jr.

Aug 9 6:30pm ET

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said on Friday that rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix will start the team's second preseason game next week at home against the visiting Green Bay Packers. Jarrett Stidham, who opened training camp as the starter on the unofficial depth chart, is starting the preseason opener at Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Stidham entered the offseason with a leg up in the QB competition this summer, mainly because of his experience last year in Payton's offense. It doesn't mean he'll be starting in the Week 1 season opener in Seattle against the Seahawks, though, and both Stidham and Nix have been splitting first-team reps in camp to this point. Stidham may be the safer game manager to begin the year for Denver, but the Broncos drafted Nix in the first round for a reason. Neither QB profiles as anything more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues this year.

Jul 31 10:00pm ET

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton had some praise for rookie quarterback Bo Nix after Wednesday's practice, saying he played "overall, pretty well" and that Payton "liked his progress." Nix ran with the first-team offense and it's a great sign early in camp, but there is plenty of work to be done by Nix. When Nix takes his first regular-season snap, he will be 24 years old, but Nix has a solid cast of weapons and an experienced head coach in Payton. Despite being in a competitive AFC West, the Broncos are live to be a playoff contender, especially if Nix can keep ascending. Nix's fantasy upside is capped as a streaming QB2 off of waivers when he earns a starting nod in 2024, but with a cast of weapons like Courtland Sutton, Javonte Williams, and others, Nix's cupboard isn't barren.

The Denver Broncos and guard Quinn Meinerz have agreed to terms on a four-year, $80 million contract extension that includes $45 million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. This new deal keeps Meinerz under contract with the Broncos through 2028. Meinerz has blossomed into quite the success story since being selected out of Wisconsin-;Whitewater in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He finished last season with a stellar 88.7 PFF run blocking grade, which represented a career-best. Going forward, he'll be tasked with blocking for a young offensive core that includes Bo Nix, Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Audric Estime.

Dynasty | Bo Nix is reportedly leading the quarterback competition in Denver. Dynasty Analysis: There are a lot of teams who can be patient and let their rookies develop this year before throwing them to the wolves but the Broncos likely aren't one of them after dismissing Russell Wilson this off-season. Sean Payton has clearly hitched his wagon to Nix and it would be a shock if he doesn't start on opening day. At this point, he looks like a solid QB2 in dynasty leagues though we could see some rookie ups and downs early.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jun 19 1:00pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, and he will get the chance to be Sean Payton's QB of the future. So far this offseason, Denver's coaching staff has continually praised Nix's maturity level and growth. "There is a maturity level," offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said. "I think when you draft a guy who is a little bit older, you hope that that comes with it, but he's certainly shown that. You can feel his 61 games played in college. With experience, a calmness comes along with it. So he certainly doesn't feel like a rookie." College football's all-time leader in career starts will be 24 years old when he takes his first regular-season snap, and he'll have to exceed expectations to elevate a weak supporting cast in the competitive AFC West. While the team expects Nix to perform well right away, he has limited fantasy upside due to a lack of weapons and the struggles rookies usually face.

From RotoBaller

Jun 15 12:30pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham has an obvious advantage in the quarterback competition with rookie first-rounder Bo Nix and former first-rounder Zach Wilson as he enters his second year in head coach Sean Payton's offense. "He's doing well," Payton said of Stidham. "Clearly, within the framework within what we're doing, he is much further along than in Year 1 in the transition. I'd say he's looked really sharp during this offseason program. [He is] real decisive. I think the leadership he is able to provide there, and there's good competition." Stidham may be ahead now, but Nix could quickly and easily close the gap if he looks good in training camp this summer. And it's not like Stidham has much experience in the NFL to begin with. Fantasy managers in single-year formats would be wise to avoid Denver's QB situation.

From RotoBaller

Jun 1 1:20pm ET

Denver Broncos rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix continues to impress the coaching staff after having taken part in rookie minicamp and two weeks of voluntary organized team activities. "He's doing well," head coach Sean Payton said. "He's picking it up, and there's a lot that's going in. He's throwing it extremely well." Nix was selected with the 12th overall pick in April's NFL draft to be the team's franchise signal-caller, and he's competing this offseason with incumbent Jarrett Stidham and former first-rounder Zach Wilson. The 24-year-old has plenty of experience with 61 collegiate starts and appears to have picked things up quickly. We'll have a better idea of how good of a shot Nix has to start under center in Week 1 for the Broncos. If Nix is starting for the Broncos in 2024, he'll be a low-end QB2, at best, in superflex leagues.

From RotoBaller

May 23 6:40pm ET

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that rookie quarterback Bo Nix is "farther along than most" rookies during organized team activities. "We're talking about a player who has played 61 games. He's extremely smart. He's picked it up very quickly." Nix was the QB working with the first-team offense on Thursday, but Payton said that Jarrett Stidham was the No. 1 QB on Tuesday and Zach Wilson was the No. 1 QB for the second day of OTAs on Wednesday. The Broncos are rotating all three of their signal-callers so far during voluntary offseason workouts, but it could be telling that Nix is already getting some work with the top offense. Nix will have his opportunities to win the starting job in training camp and the preseason, but it won't be given to him. And if he wins the job, the 24-year-old will still probably be no better than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues in 2024.

From RotoBaller

May 12 11:20am ET

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said he liked what he saw from rookie quarterback Bo Nix during practices at the team's rookie minicamp over the weekend. "He had two or three down the field throws [Saturday]," Payton said. "It's almost like watching a good golfer when you watch his game ... there's a patience to how he plays, the ball comes out." The Broncos took Nix 12th overall, which many thought was a massive reach, and hope he will become their next franchise signal-caller. With only Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson to compete with, Nix has a clear path to the starting job right away in his first season in the NFL, but the Broncos aren't getting ahead of themselves. "We'll figure it out, we'll figure it out ... We'll have a rotation and we'll go from there," Payton said when asked how the team's QB competition will unfold in the weeks ahead.
