2024 RTSports Outlook

Otton was the starting tight end for the Bucs last season, getting 47 receptions for 455 yards and four touchdowns. He was 20th overall in fantasy tight end scoring. He had three games with double-digit fantasy points. The issue for Otton is he has two very talented pass catchers ahead of him when it comes to targets. It is likely more of the same for him this season in Tampa. Otton has 40-plus receptions each of his two seasons in the NFL. Otton is a good pass catcher with solid route running. He is a willing blocker, but still needs work in that area. Otton doesn't really wow in any area but is a reliable target that will move the chains.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Otton could see a slight bump in production but remains more of a spot play for fantasy teams. The good news is his weekly ceiling is fairly high, getting consistent receptions. He can get around 50 receptions for 500 yards and five touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Otton has played the role of dependable safety valve during his first two seasons. He became a Tom Brady favorite towards the end of 2022 and then took his fantasy value a slight step forward in 2023 when he caught five more passes for 64 more yards and two more touchdowns than his rookie campaign. The bad news is he loses the target battle with Tampa Bay's top two wideouts, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, by a large margin. Both receivers had double the targets that Otton had last season, and there is no reason to think quarterback Baker Mayfield will not aim as often at his main men this upcoming season. The good news is if Evans or Godwin are unlucky with injuries, Otton could easily become the No. 2 target in Tampa Bay's passing attack due to the lack of depth in the receiving and tight end corps. Otton is no speed burner (9.5 career YPC), nor is he a red-zone master (six TD in 33 career contests). Where Otton provides fantasy value is in PPR leagues due to his receptions. He should be able to set career-highs across the board in 2024, but that is contingent on how the Tampa target breakdown works out this year. Otton is a TE2 who can provide 55 receptions for 600 yards and five touchdowns if everything breaks right for him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles recognized tight end Cade Otton for his durability and willingness to learn multiple systems, according to Luke Easterling of Bucs Wire. "His durability has been outstanding," Bowles recently said. "We've called on him a lot as a rookie. It's hard to believe he's only a third-year guy coming up. His durability has been outstanding and he's had different coordinators each year, so his ability to adapt and learn, He's had different coaches, it's not like he's had the same position coach or had the same offensive coordinator. So, to learn different things and tweak his game to fit what we needed him to do is outstanding." The 25-year-old tight end is looking to build on a campaign in which he caught 47 passes for 455 yards and four touchdowns. He's the top tight end in Tampa Bay, and although he'll lose plenty of volume to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Rachaad White, he' still a mid-range TE2 for fantasy purposes.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton impressed during practice on Tuesday. According to Bailey Adams of Pewter Report, Otton "was arguably the offensive player of the day" as he made a sideline catch in 11-on-11s and shortly after showed off a one-handed grab down the field. He was one of Baker Mayfield's most targeted and trusted pass-catchers, perhaps offering a glimpse into what the 2024 season could look like. Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton was quiet throughout most of the regular season. He was a distant third option in the passing game but came alive in the postseason. On Sunday, Otton hauled in five of eight targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Detroit Lions. In two postseason games, Otton caught 13 of 19 targets for 155 yards and a score. It was a nice showing for the young tight end during the postseason. Otton will likely enter the 2024 season as the No.1 tight end, but that doesn't guarantee he'll be a viable fantasy option.
