New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett completed 15-of-27 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, while posting six rushing yards on two attempts.

From TheHuddle

Sep 15 5:40pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 15 of 27 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown, and zero turnovers during the team's 23-20 overtime loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. This was a similar stat line to Brissett's Week 1 finish, with the main difference being that he threw for a touchdown this Sunday. Just as important is the fact that he played turnover-free football for the consecutive week. The veteran isn't a very appealing fantasy option given the Patriots' mellow passing attack, but he has certainly provided plenty of value to the organization with a very solid first two games of the year. He'll face the Jets on Thursday night in Week 3.

Sep 14 9:20am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett is one week removed from leading his team to a big upset victory on the road. Even after the Patriots' impressive win, Brissett is not a reliable option in fantasy football heading into Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. New England won last game largely thanks to its defense, Rhamondre Stevenson's production after contact, and Brissett's poise and veteran presence. Unfortunately, you don't get fantasy points for being calm in the pocket, and Brissett didn't exactly produce major yardage or touchdowns. The passing game is expected to remain relatively quiet this Sunday, so while Brissett is always a candidate to notch a touchdown, his role in this low passing volume offense drops him outside the top 24 fantasy quarterbacks for Week 2.

Sep 8 6:10pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 15 of 24 passes for 121 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He also rushed seven times for an additional 32 yards on the ground. On one hand, the Patriots' offense went run-heavy, giving Brissett very little fantasy value. On the other hand, the veteran played clean football and did enough to lead the underdog Patriots to a victory. Additionally, he showcased more mobility than expected with his 32 rushing yards. All in all, Brissett remains off the fantasy radar but will continue to offer a poised veteran presence under center.

Sep 7 12:20am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett is gearing up for his second stint with the team. He'll draw the start for New England in Week 1 but remains off the radar in most fantasy leagues. His below-average play coupled with the Patriots' weak pass-catching group lowers Brissett's floor, as well as his upside. He also has a tough matchup against an up-and-coming Cincinnati Bengals defense that finished with the eighth-most interceptions in the NFL last year. If you're a fantasy manager who waited to select a quarterback until the very end of your draft in 2-QB leagues, maybe you should consider Brissett. Otherwise, though, he has a bleak outlook this week and should be treated as one of the least preferable QB options in fantasy football.

Aug 29 9:00am ET

New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has named veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett the starter for the Week 1 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye will start his pro career in the backup role. This has been the expectation this offseason and Maye is viewed as a project QB, while Brissett can stabilize the position early in the 2024 campaign. Although Brissett has had some success during his career, New England is lacking established weapons on offense and could rely heavily on Rhamondre Stevenson and the running game. That said, it would be a surprise if the 31-year-old is high on the fantasy football radar in single-QB leagues. Fantasy managers in Superflex and two-QB leagues could target Brissett as a late-round short-term starter, but Maye should also be stashed in those setups.

From RotoBaller

Aug 29 8:33am ET

New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett was named the starting quarterback Thursday, Aug. 29, with QB Drake Maye serving as backup.

Fantasy Spin: Interesting scenario considering coach Jerod Mayo came out a couple of days ago and said Drake Maye had outplayed Brissett. Brissett is a ho-hum QB2 in fantasy that could have usage if you suffer an early season injury.

From TheHuddle

Aug 27 8:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett (shoulder) said he feels "100% fine" after being pulled from the preseason finale on Sunday against the Washington Commanders with a right-shoulder injury. "It's good. I think it was more of a precautionary measure; I hadn't gotten hit in eight months, so it kind of surprised me more than anything. I'm excited, ready for the season," Brissett said. Head coach Jerod Mayo said Brissett could have gone back into the game if needed. The 31-year-old veteran should be fully ready for Week 1 in two weeks, but he may have lost the starting QB gig to rookie first-rounder Drake Maye, who has outplayed Brissett of late. If Brissett is starting in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, it's because the Pats want to give Maye a bit more time to develop before throwing him into the fire. At best, Brissett is a low-upside QB2 in superflex fantasy leagues.

Aug 26 9:40pm ET

New England Patriots veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett (shoulder) left the team's preseason finale early on Sunday night against the Washington Commanders after his opening drive, but he could have returned if needed, according to head coach Jerod Mayo. It's an injury that shouldn't keep Brissett from being available for the Week 1 regular-season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 8. The bigger concern for the 31-year-old signal-caller is that rookie first-rounder Drake Maye has outplayed him for much of training camp and the preseason, and it feels as though things are trending towards the Patriots naming Maye as their Week 1 starter. Even if Brissett is given the Week 1 start so that Maye is allowed more time to learn on the sidelines, the veteran is no more than a QB3 option in superflex leagues and will probably be on the bench sooner than later in 2024.

From RotoBaller

Aug 26 11:53am ET

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye has outplayed QB Jacoby Brissett in camp, according to head coach Jerod Mayo. 'This is a true competition, and I would say at this current point, Drake has outplayed Jacoby,' Mayo said Monday in his weekly appearance on WEEI's 'The Greg Hill Show.' 'Now in saying that, we have to take in the full body of work, going all the way back to the spring and beginning of training camp. And we'll see where we end up. But those are the conversations that will happen here over the next couple of days.'

Fantasy Spin: You can't say that publicly then anoint Brissett the starter, can you? Maye appears to be on the cusp of winning the spot, and he has more upside in fantasy than Brissett. Maye is still a midrange QB2 in single-year formats because he doesn't have a lot around him and has a wider expected learning curve.

Aug 25 10:00pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett (shoulder) exited Sunday's preseason finale after taking a sack. He finished his day having completed two of four passes for 19 yards through the air. Drake Maye replaced Brissett and played the remainder of the first half. The Patriots are one of the few NFL teams still holding a competition for their starting quarterback job, and it remains to be seen whether Brissett's injury and Maye's extra reps Sunday could swing the pendulum in the rookie's favor. Regardless of who wins the job coming out of training camp, neither quarterback will have much appeal in redraft fantasy leagues.

Aug 25 9:53pm ET

New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett (shoulder) suffered a right shoulder injury during the preseason game against the Washington Commanders Sunday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Spin: Brissett was able to finish the drive but didn't return for the following series. If the injury causes him to miss time, Drake Maye could be thrust into starting duty in Week 1.

From TheHuddle

Aug 23 1:10pm ET

New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said that quarterback Jacoby Brissett will start Sunday's preseason finale against the Washington Commanders, and all four of the team's QBs will play, including rookie first-rounder Drake Maye. The Patriots will keep things the same after the veteran Brissett started the first two preseason games. The 31-year-old has so far gone 3-for-10 for just 17 yards and an interception in four drives played in the preseason, and he's going to need to do better this Sunday if he wants to hold off Maye for the starting gig entering the 2024 regular season. Brissett's inconsistency in the preseason and in training camp has opened the door for Maye, who got his first reps with the starting unit in practice this week. Brissett probably still has the slight edge in the competition because of his experience in the NFL, but he probably won't be able to hold Maye off long in 2024.

From TheHuddle

Aug 15 11:40pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed just three of seven passes for 17 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception during Thursday's preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Brissett played the entire first quarter, leading three unsuccessful drives, the middle of which saw the Patriots move close to the goal line before Brissett threw a costly interception in the end zone. This uninspiring outing falls in line with less-than-glowing reports out of Patriots training camp, suggesting that the gap between Brissett and rookie Drake Maye may be shrinking. As of now, Brissett's experience probably still gives him the slight edge for QB1 in New England, but it should be noted that Maye had a very good performance Thursday against Philadelphia.

From RotoBaller

Jul 23 1:20pm ET

When asked about the team's quarterback competition at the start of training camp, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said, "Coming out of spring, I think it's clear Jacoby Brissett is the most pro-ready guy we have." Even though the Patriots selected Drake Maye with the third overall pick in April's NFL draft, the expectation all along was that Brissett, a 31-year-old veteran, would open the 2024 regular season as the starter under center while Maye sits and learns on the sidelines. "I don't think there's any doubt," Mayo went on to say when asked if Brissett was the starting QB for training camp. Maye will probably end up playing later on in his first NFL season, but early on it will be Brissett leading an offense without many playmakers. With limited weapons in the passing game and a shaky offensive line, Brissett is a desperation QB2 in superflex leagues in 2024.

New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett is the 'most pro-ready guy we have,' according to head coach Jerod Mayo.

Fantasy Spin: Brissett is the favorite to start over first-round pick Drake Maye for now. It's early, and Maye figures to take over at some point. Both are QB2s in fantasy, but Maye is the more attractive fantasy option.

From TheHuddle

Dynasty | Jacoby Brissett looks to be the opening day starter for the Patriots. Dynasty Analysis: For now, at least. New England will eventually turn to Drake Maye but early reports are indicating Brissett is likely going to be the starter on opening day. Brissett could have some early season appeal in 2QB leagues but the journeyman won't have much room to flounder as his replacement waits in the wings.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jun 22 11:33am ET

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye still has a chance to win the starting quarterback job during training camp, even though veteran QB Jacoby Brissett took all of the reps with the first-team offense at the Patriots' mandatory minicamp and was referred to as the starter by offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

Fantasy Spin: Maye finished minicamp as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart but would need to clearly outplay Brissett by a wide margin in training camp to earn the starting nod for Week 1's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. For as long Brissett is in a starting role, he should be viewed as a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes because of the lack of offensive weapons on New England's offense. Maye will likely take over as starter before the end of the 2024 regular season and could be viewed as a QB2 option in most fantasy leagues once this happens.
