RotoBaller's Outlook

After a disappointing rookie year, Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride burst onto the scene in 2023. He posted 825 receiving yards on 81 receptions to go along with three touchdowns. This was good for a TE7 finish in PPR leagues. McBride's 2023 is even more impressive when you consider he didn't play more than 60% of snaps in a game until Week 8. From that point on, he was the PPR TE4 in fantasy points per game. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was also absent from the lineup for the team's first nine games. Once he returned, the duo formed a strong connection. It should only continue to grow moving forward. The club did add receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick in April's draft. However, McBride should remain one of the focal points of the offense. We've seen tight ends produce next to elite wide receivers before. Travis Kelce with Tyreek Hill and Sam LaPorta with Amon-Ra St. Brown come to mind. Fantasy gamers can confidently select McBride as one of the first tight ends off the board in all formats.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride enjoyed a solid season in 2023, hauling in 81 of his 106 targets for 825 yards and three touchdowns. He finished as the TE7 in PPR leagues, and he was the TE3 from Week 7 on after Zach Ertz was placed on Injured Reserve. However, Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing believes the best is ahead for the young tight end. "I certainly feel like he has another level that he can take his game to," Petzing said. "And we're gonna push him to try to get him there." The 24-year-old could enter the elite tier of fantasy tight ends in 2024, and many view him as the dynasty TE2 behind Sam LaPorta. McBride's ADP in 2024 FFPC best ball drafts places him as the third tight end off the board, and although he will compete for targets with Marvin Harrison Jr., he has overall TE1 upside.

In the final chapter of Arizona Cardinal Trey McBride's breakout season, the second-year tight end showcased his prowess with three receptions on six targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Seahawks. McBride's elevated usage, especially after Zach Ertz's injury in Week 7, turned him into quarterback Kyler Murray's go-to target, culminating in 69 receptions, 655 yards, and three touchdowns over the last 10 games. His performance against Seattle was no exception, as he secured the lone touchdown pass from Murray in the game. As fantasy managers look ahead to 2024, McBride's consistent production and chemistry with Murray make him a promising option in the often-scarce tight-end landscape.

Arizona Cardinal's tight end Trey McBride is set for a crucial Week 18 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks, and fantasy managers should consider starting him. Despite a slight dip in production in recent weeks, McBride remains a top option at a thin fantasy position. In the last game against the Eagles, he caught 6-of-7 targets for 48 yards, showcasing his consistent involvement in the passing game. Notably, since Week 10, McBride has been a volume monster, ranking first in target share (25.2%) among tight ends. Additionally, with quarterback Kyler Murray under center, McBride has displayed elite volume and usage stats, making him a reliable fantasy asset. As the Cardinals face Seattle to close out the year, McBride's strong finish to the season seems imminent, and he can be started with confidence in Week 18.
