2024 RTSports Outlook

Lawrence didn't take quite the step forward the Jaguars and fantasy owners hoped. He did throw for more than 4,000 yards and had 25 total touchdowns, but was intercepted 14 times. He had eight games with 20-plus fantasy points but three with less than 15 points. Lawrence struggled some with his accuracy, having the fourth-worst bad throw percentage (18.8 percent). He also had the 10th worst on-target percentage (74.3 percent). Those two numbers led to inconsistent play from Lawrence. He will look to play more consistent football this year in year four. Lawrence has two straight seasons with 4,000-plus yards and 25 or more touchdowns. Lawrence is a very smart quarterback with a plus arm. He isn't a running quarterback but moves around the pocket well and can make plays on the run. He is accurate, especially on shorter throws, and shows improved accuracy on the deep ball. Lawrence will force throws at times, taking a bit of a step backward in that area last season.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Lawrence hasn't lived up to the hype but was still 12th overall in fantasy quarterback scoring last year. He gets the chances and has some great weapons to work with on a weekly basis. Consider him a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback. He can throw for around 4,000 yard with 30-plus touchdowns and 300-rushing yards.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and considered by many to be a "generational talent." After a brutal rookie year, Lawrence has been close to a middle-of-the-road QB for fantasy in 2022 and 2023 with 8,130 yards passing to go with 46 TDs and 22 INTs. Lawrence lost his second-highest target from 2023 after WR Calvin Ridley signed with rival Tennessee, but Jacksonville drafted LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. with pick No. 23 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. With RB Travis Etienne, WR Christian Kirk, newly-signed WR Gabe Davis, TE Evan Engram, and Thomas Jr, Lawrence has no shortage of weapons around him for 2024. Since coming into the league, Lawrence has averaged 12.7, 17.9, and 17.6 fantasy points per game. He will need to eclipse that 20.0 PPG mark to be considered an elite QB for fantasy purposes in 1QB leagues, but could still provide value in Superflex leagues based on where he's being drafted. Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis should give this offense a vertical, field-stretching element that they haven't had in the past.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be without last year's top wideout Calvin Ridley in 2024, but the former No. 1 overall pick believes he has a strong group of pass-catchers to work with. "We have a really dynamic group of pass catchers," Lawrence said, "We have some great tight ends. You talk about Evan (Engram), obviously, had a great year last year. He's really great with the ball in his hands. He does a lot of things to help us -- a good blocker too." He also shouted out second-year tight end Brenton Strange and wide receivers Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and Brian Thomas Jr. While Ridley's departure leaves room for more uncertainty, the team could have an underrated skill group if Thomas and Davis exceed expectations in Duval County. Lawrence is generally drafted around the QB16 spot in preseason drafts, and he has enough upside to finish as a low-end QB1 in his fourth NFL campaign.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Trevor Lawrence agreed on a five-year, $275 million contract extension on Thursday, which includes $200 million guaranteed ($142 million at signing), according to a source. The $55 million average salary in Lawrence's deal ties him with Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow for the top mark in that category in the NFL. The 24-year-old former first overall pick in 2021 out of Clemson made his first Pro Bowl in his second season in 2022 and has had back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons, although Lawrence and the Jaguars offense struggled down the stretch last year as he battled through injuries. Overall, his 2023 campaign was a step back after he finished as the QB7 in fantasy the year prior. Lawrence lost Calvin Ridley but gained rookie Brian Thomas and Gabe Davis and has plenty of targets, but he's best drafted as a QB2 with upside in fantasy.

Dynasty | The Jaguars have signed quarterback Trevor Lawrence to a contract extension. Dynasty Analysis: Lawrence and the Jags agree to a five-year, $275 million contract extension with a reported $200 million guaranteed, including $142 million up front. Lawrence also received a $37.5 million signing bonus. It's a massive contract for a quarterback billed as the "next great thing" but realistically performing as "the next good thing." Lawrence is currently ranked as our QB9 and that seems about right for a player who has yet to really show he's truly an elite fantasy option.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said he would love to have a contract extension in place before training camp begins at the end of July, but it's not going to be an issue for him if he doesn't get it. Lawrence's representatives and the Jaguars have been working on an extension for months, and the deal is expected to make him one of the highest-paid QBs in the NFL in terms of average annual salary. He's entering the final season of a fully-guaranteed, four-year deal worth $36,793,592 that he signed after being taken first overall in the 2021 draft. Lawrence's fifth-year option was picked up, which fully guarantees him $25.664 million in 2025. The 24-year-old said he's more concerned with continuing to develop in his third season in head coach Doug Pederson's offense than with his extension. With better health in 2024, Lawrence could easily take another step forward.

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said on Saturday that the team is picking up the fifth-year option for quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne Jr. It's no surprise that the Jags will pick up the options for the former Clemson teammates with the deadline to do so coming next Thursday. The 24-year-old Lawrence has been given even more weapons in Gabe Davis and rookie Brian Thomas after Calvin Ridley left in free agency this offseason. Injuries hurt Lawrence in the second half of 2023, and with better health in 2024, he could easily rebound as a strong midrange QB1 for fantasy. Etienne has rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons while also catching 93 total passes for 792 yards. Tank Bigsby could be a thorn in his side as he gets more involved in the backfield, but Etienne is still an attractive fantasy RB in an offense that could be even more explosive this year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are calling around in an effort to move up in the first round of Thursday's NFL draft, and teams taking their calls believe they are on the hunt for a specific pass-catcher, according to a source. Even though the Jaguars signed wideout Gabe Davis in free agency this offseason, it appears the Jags are looking to make a splash early in the first round this year for another weapon for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville currently holds the No. 17 overall pick. If they were to trade into the top 10, players such as Washington receiver Rome Odunze, LSU receiver Malik Nabers, and Georgia tight end Brock Bowers could all be options as they look for extra pass-catchers after they lost Calvin Ridley in free agency. Stay tuned.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed offensive lineman Tyler Shatley, the team announced on X on Friday. The former Clemson Tiger joined the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2014, and he has spent his entire 10-year career with the organization. He has 145 game appearances in his career, including 51 starts (six in 2023). Although he is not expected to compete for a starting role to begin the 2024 season, he brings depth to an offensive line that needs to do a much better job of protecting Trevor Lawrence this season. Shatley has experience at guard and center, making him a versatile veteran up front.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said that he and the team continue to work on a long-term contract extension, but he also said "it's not really the focus right now." General manager Trent Baalke confirmed that the team was talking about an extension with Lawrence. "We're working, but you can't force this stuff." Lawrence is entering the final year of his four-year rookie deal and is eligible to have his fifth-year option picked up, with the deadline coming on May 2. If the two sides don't work anything out by then, Jacksonville will surely pick up the option for the 2025 season and continue to work on an extension. The 24-year-old former first overall pick in 2021 out of Clemson took a slight step back from his Pro Bowl season in 2022 but was still a top-10 fantasy QB despite battling through an injury in the second half of 2023.

Apr 16 4:50pm ET

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed just one game last season, but he dealt with multiple injuries to his lower and upper body that could have affected his play in 2023. In a media availability on Tuesday, the former No. 1 overall pick said he did not feel 100% healthy until March. "When March hit, I felt really good, like lifting and doing everything like totally normal," Lawrence said. "But until March, I'd say that's when I started to feel like 100%, do stuff that I normally do." The 24-year-old threw for 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, and the Jaguars lost a Week 18 game against the struggling Tennessee Titans that would have sent them to the playoffs. Ultimately, it was a disappointing season for Lawrence and the Jaguars alike, but a healthy Lawrence could yield better results in 2024. The team has uncertainty at the wide receiver position after the departure of Calvin Ridley, but they are likely to add weapons in the upcoming NFL Draft. Lawrence figures to have a low-end QB1 upside, though he's likely to produce mid-range QB2 numbers in fantasy football.

Former Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs center Mitch Morse is signing a two-year $10.5 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. The deal includes $7 million guaranteed. The 2022 Pro Bowl selection was released by the Bills last week after five seasons with the organization. He has 126 starts on his resume and will presumably take the job of Luke Fortner in 2024. Given Trevor Lawrence's long list of bumps and bruises during the 2023 season, the Jaguars are committed to upgrading his protection with this signing and the restructured contract of All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff.

Mar 7 12:30pm ET

The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to terms with guard Ezra Cleveland on a three-year, $28.5 million deal with $14.5 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 25-year-old was traded from the Minnesota Vikings to Jacksonville in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in nine games (five starts) at left guard for the Jaguars in 2023. Protecting franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence is a key priority for the organization this offseason, so they worked to make sure Cleveland did not reach the open market.

From RotoBaller

Feb 24 1:40pm ET

The Jacksonville Jaguars finished last season next to last in yards before contact per rush (0.94), which is no wonder they also finished 30th in yards per attempt (3.6), 31st in rushing EPA and 30th in rushing success rate. The Athletic's Jim Ayello writes that their ground game must improve if quarterback Trevor Lawrence and company hope to get back into the AFC title hunt in 2024. It will start with upgrades on the interior offensive line this offseason. Luke Fortner showed he isn't the answer at center. The Jaguars don't appear to have a starting left guard under contract, and right guard Brandon Scherff may be cut for salary cap relief. It all means that the Jaguars are going to need to serious look for upgrades on their offensive line in free agency and the draft.

Jan 28 2:20pm ET

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is eligible for a contract extension this offseason after playing out the first three years of his deal, and general manager Trent Baalke said there's "no doubt" about the former first overall pick's long-term relationship with the organization. Lawrence is coming off an up-and-down season in 2023 that was marred by several injuries. He's eligible to have his fifth-year option picked up, which would be worth a projected $21.978 million. The Jaguars may not necessarily give Lawrence a long-term contract extension this offseason, but it's likely coming and will almost certainly be record-breaking. In 2023, Lawrence completed 65.6% of his passes for 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while losing seven fumbles. He was also sacked 35 times, 12th-most in the league. With better health in 2024, Lawrence could be primed for a bounce-back campaign.

From RotoBaller

Jan 25 12:20pm ET

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said the team will have a "heart to heart" discussion with quarterback Trevor Lawrence this offseason about whether a long-term contract extension happens now or in 2025. The Jaguars will almost certainly pick up Lawrence's fifth-year option at some point this offseason. The former first overall pick out of Clemson led the Jags to a playoff appearance in just his second season and the team was off to a fast start in 2023 before crumbling down the stretch. The 24-year-old dealt with several injuries that most likely hurt his production, but he's now thrown for 11,770 yards, 58 touchdowns and 39 interceptions in his first three seasons. Lawrence will be a midrange QB1 for fantasy managers heading into the 2024 season, and an extension is likely a matter of when, not if, for Lawrence and the Jaguars.
