SFFL Abandoned Teams: 12-12-21 (Effective 2022)
Any teams abandoned by a GM during the season will have the Weekly Starters set by the Commish by starting the highest ranked players in those positions. The Commish will also make the necessary moves for Bye Weeks ONLY if players need to be moved to IR or signed when no players available to start.
SFFL Tie-Breaker Change: 09-08-21
The League Majority voted in favor of changing the Tie Breaker Player from the Head Coach to Bench Players... The Head Coach spot will remain at this time per Commish.
SFFL WR Max Limits: 08-27-14
The League majority (100%) of GMs voted to up the Roster Max of WRs to 5 from 4 as the NFL becomes more of a passing game with less focus on the tandem RB attack.
UPUFF Draft Order: 08-15-09
UPUFF voted by majority (67%) that the upcoming season's draft order will be determined by the GMs who will select their draft position by order of finish from the previous season.
SFFL Playoffs: 12-01-08
At the end of regular season of play (WK 15) eight teams advance to the playoffs. Those teams consists of four divisional champions and 4 wild cards which are determined by the best overall records below the divisional champions.
Since there are no "byes" in our only week of playoffs, the first divisional seed plays the fourth seed for the first
Div Championship spot while the second and third seed play for the remaining Div Championship spot.
Trade Deadline: 10-16-08
The SFFL/UPUFF trade deadline is the same date for the NFL of that season, but in the SFFL League the trade page is available to trade keepers for draft picks for the upcoming season only after the season has ended.
SFFL/UPUFF Deadbeat(s) & Draft Rulings: August 14, 2006
DRAFT DATE (Updated 2022)
SFFL League Draft: EVERY SATURDAY before Labor Day at 9AM
DRAFT RULES
1) All members MUST be paid in full the Thursday before your league(s) draft date, if you are not paid in full your team will be removed from the league, and you will not play for the season.
2) All members MUST “set up” or “load” the draft cheat sheets provided by RT. If this is not completed on the eve before the draft I will load the pre-ranked cheat sheet for that member.
3) All members MUST set their auto-pick options. If the member is going to be offline for the draft then they MUST select “Instant” if they are going to be online for the draft then they MUST select “Fail-Safe” to protect their pick in case their PC or laptop crashes during the draft. If this is not completed on the night before the draft I will set the mode to “Instant” so it will pick a player from the pre-ranked cheat sheet.
4) All members have 2 minutes to draft a player which is one of the reasons why the auto-pick options must be set so our draft can flow with minimal problems.
What is the "Auto-Pick" function and how does it work?
The Auto-Pick function allows users to have the system make picks for them in their live draft, based on their draft
cheatsheet setup. NOTE: This function, like the draft cheatsheet itself, is only available if your league has decided
to use our live draft feature.
There are 3 Auto-Pick modes you can define:
OFF
Turn the auto-picker off. The user must select his/her players from the live draft board manually. If the league has a
constraint on the time to make a pick, the user must select the desired player before the time is up or the selection
will be skipped.
INSTANT
Allow the auto-picker to select the next player from your draft cheatsheet as soon as it is your turn to pick. The
user will not be manually making a pick in this instance, so fill out your draft cheatsheet wisely!
Two important notes about this mode:
1. If your draft is running, you are currently up in the draft order, and you select "INSTANT", the system will
IMMEDIATELY make a pick for your team. Be sure to know the current state of your draft before you change to this mode.
2. If, for any reason, your cheatsheet is invalid (all of the players on the list have been taken, selecting any of
the remaining players on your list will violate roster compositions or salary cap limits, etc.) your turn will NOT be
skipped, rather you will still be on the clock and your auto-pick mode will automatically be shut off.
FAIL-SAFE
Not available if your draft does not have a time limit for selections. Allow the auto-picker to select the next player
from my draft cheatsheet only if I did not make a selection within the time limit for my draft. Fail-Safe mode is used
when you believe you may not be able to get your pick in on time (due to internet connectivity problems, for example)
and you do not want your turn to be skipped. If, for any reason, your cheatsheet is invalid (all of the players on the
list have been taken, selecting any of the remaining players on your list will violate roster compositions or salary
cap limits, etc.) your turn WILL be skipped, as your time has expired and a pick could not be made for you.
Waiver Wire (WW) & Free Agent (FA) Signings: June 4, 2006
At 12AM Tuesday GM's can submit their players for the WW submission list until 12AM Thursday. This gives GM's 48 hours
to do their homework and make sure they have the right players they want to acquire on their submission list. RT will
process the submissions and assign the players to the teams in order of "worst to first". By 8AM Thursday morning WW
players should be assigned to their teams thus opening the FA signing period which lasts up until game time on 1PM
Sunday. If the games fall on Thursday or Saturday then the period ends at 1PM on those days.
Injured Reserve (IR): Suspended & Injured Players: October 9, 2005
Players who listed an injury or suspension prior their bye week will be allowed to remain on the IR without drawing a
penalty during their bye week. This ruling has been put into place because bye week teams do not have to submit an injury report the previous Thursday to the NFL.
Keepers: January 5, 2004
At the end of the SFFL season each GM must submit a final roster made up of the player minimums as stated in the
"Roster Composition" section of the rules. One player per position will be named, and all IR players must be returned
to the (FA) free agent pool or assigned a roster spot. Any GMs who don't have their final roster set by April 1st of
the upcoming season will have their final rosters finalized by the GM who will start the highest ranked player of that
position on the roster and the remaining players will be dropped to the FA pool.
SFFL Toilet Bowl Championship: December 21, 2004
The Toliet Bowl Championship features the two teams with the SFFL's worst overall record. The losing team of this
matchup is SFFL's Toilet Bowl Champion.
SFFL Playoffs: December 21, 2004
At the end of regular season of play (WK 15) six teams advance to the playoffs. Those teams consists of four divisional champions and 2 wild cards which are determined by the third best overall record below the divisional champions.
Since there are no "byes" in our only week of playoffs, the first seed plays the wildcard for the first championship
spot while the second and third seed play for the remaining Championship spot.
Suspended Players: September 8, 2004
Suspended players can be carried on your IR as if they were injured.
Injured Players: September 5, 2004
Injured players are players with any type injury that has them listed on the weekly NFL injury list. They don't have
to be on injured reserve, but if they are listed on the NFL injury report come Thursday when the report is released
then you can place that player on your injured reserves without penalty. If that player is listed as "day to day" or
"game time decision", and decides to play come game day you won't be penalized if you still have that player on your
IR because the NFL is good for doing this.
Trade Penalties: September 4, 2004
All GM’s must answer all trade proposals within ONE WEEK’S time (to cover vacations). If a trade proposal is not
ACCEPTED or REJECTED by the GM who received the proposal within A WEEK’S time (to cover vacations). That GM will be
assessed with a 5pt penalty the following week, and every consecutive week until the proposal has been answered.
Injured Reserve (IR): September 4, 2004
The two IR spots are for INJURED players with only one exception. During a team’s bye week it will be okay to place a
(HC) Head Coach, (K) Kicker, (ST) Special Team or (DEF) Team Defense on the IR, but after the following week those
players must be returned to the roster or they will be dropped by the Commissioner on the following Wednesday at 8am.
The placing of non-injured players onto the IR during gametime, will cost GM's a 10pt penalty to be assessed on a
weekly basis.
Trades: November 17, 2003
All trades MUST be ACCEPTED by both parties and submitted to me for approval by Saturday 12AM. I will APPROVE all
trades by 6PM Saturday night which will give you plenty time to adjust your starters.
Phone Numbers: November 17, 2003
ALL SFFL members must list a contact phone number. If you feel comfortable, leave your phone number. If not, then
leave a cell number. If you want you can list both, but make sure you list if it is your home or cell. For example...
H(508)586-0562
Trades: October 27, 2003
All trades MUST be ACCEPTED/REJECTED by both parties before the Commissioner APPROVES/VETO.
Tie Breakers: September 6, 2003
Here is the explanation on the tie-breakers for this league.
RT will allow you to choose whomever you want, and how many you want to settle ties, but the whole reason for drafting
a head coach was to decide tie breakers.
"WHEN PICKING A TIE BREAKER, ONLY PICK THE HEAD COACH!"
So in the event of a tie the head coaches match up in a tie breaker competition.
You continue on to the next round if the tie remains.
1st. Round: Head to Head Record
2nd. Round: Divisional Record
3rd. Round: Total Points Scored
4th. Round: Head to Head Points Scored
If there is an outcome after the remainder of these rounds the game will end in a tie.
SFFL Draft Guidelines: Created August 30, 2003
1) The Saturday before Labor Day has now become the SFFL Official Draft Day. Twelve noon will remain the official
start time. All GM's online for the draft MUST enter the RTChat at 11:30 am so we can get an idea of who we can or
cannot propose trades to during the draft. At noon you can exit the RTChat.
2) 12 round draft.
3) 2 minutes to select a player.
* Two minutes is more than enough if you filled out your pre-draft list.
4) ALL GM's must fill out a pre-draft ranking list with 12 players per position in ranking order and save it to file.
This is so I have access to it on draft day in case of no-shows or internet problems.
5) When trading draft spots during the rounds it MUST be for an even number of spots (ex. 1 round for 1 round, 2
rounds for 2 rounds). It doesn't matter which spots or rounds you trade as long as it's an even trade. If it is not an
even match, I will decline the trade.
* The reason for this rule is with some of the trades made during the draft some guys were shorted spots while others
were wasted in the end.
6) All GM's must have league fees paid in full by August 1st. GM's that have not paid in full, or contacted the SFFL
Commissioner will go to the bottom of the draft order moving all remaining teams up one spot. If there is more than
one GM in violation they will be placed at the bottom by their original order. (ex. If the GM's in violation were
drafting 3rd. and 7th. they would fall to 11th. and 12th.) Those GM's will also be fined $10 payable along with their
$50 league fee.
