2024 RUSTIC FANTASY LEAGUE RULES
The league will consist of twelve (12) teams. There will be three divisions consisting of four teams per division. The divisions will be determined by total points scored the previous year with #1, #6, #7, #12 in the Brown, #2, #5, #8, #11 in the Graham, and #3, #4, #9, #10 in the Kelly. Each team will play two games against their own division and one against the eight teams in the other two divisions during the regular season with the schedule auto generated by Rtsports. The regular season will be 14 weeks long. The Fantasy Football season will be 17 weeks long with the Super Bowl being decided in WK 17. The league will be hosted on the internet by www.rtsports.com and the league name is Rustic Fantasy League. You will need your password from last year to log in to the league. All weekly winners and general information will be updated weekly in the Commissioner’s Notes.
The draft will be a snake type draft with the 12th pick also selecting 13 and the 1st pick not selecting again until pick #24 and then 25 and so on throughout the entire course of the draft. Teams will be able to select their draft position based upon total money won the previous year with the lowest total having 1st choice and so on. This selection process will occur via an email chain before the draft. Selection order for 2024 is as follows:
Weeks 15 - 17 will consist of two playoffs. The first will consist of the first-place finishers in each division and the next two teams (wildcards) according to records. The final playoff team is the team with the most total points not already in the playoffs. If there is a tie for the division champion, we will use the tie breaker system below. The tie breaker for wild card, seeding, and bye possible teams with identical records will be total points. On week 15, the wild card teams will play along with the division winner with the worst record (Division winners with identical records will use total points as the tiebreaker for seeding purposes). The division winners with the two best records will have a bye. The winners of week 15 will advance to the 16th week, where they will play the two division winners with the best records. The winners of the 16th week will advance to the 17th week and play in the Super Bowl.
The second (consolation) playoff for weeks 15 through 17 will consist of the teams not making the playoffs playing a three (3) week total point’s tournament. The 6 teams not making the playoffs will accumulate points during these three weeks with the top three (3) teams finishing in the money. All 12 teams will still be eligible for the regular weekly payouts through WK 17 as well as the seasonal total points race.
Each team will have a maximum of 12 roster positions. These positions will be filled by position players or team defenses. Each week a team will field (1) Team Quarterback, (1) Team Kicker, (1) Team Defense/Special Team, (1) Tight End, (1-2) Running Back, (2-3) Receivers, and (1) Flex position (WR/RB/TE). This will total 8 players and 1 Team Defense/Special Team. Rosters will not be frozen at any time, however; no trades between teams will be made after the completion of the Monday Night game on the 12th week of the NFL season. You will be limited to (4) Running Backs Maximum, (5) Receivers Maximum, and (2) of any other position maximum on your roster. While you are not necessarily required to carry a full (active) roster during bye weeks, you ARE required to have enough players to start a complete starting lineup of 9 active players. Any individual player listed as questionable, doubtful or out in the weekly injury report list may be placed on the IR as well as players who are on bye or have been placed on the COVID inactive list by the NFL. Any team that places a player on IR who is not injured, on bye, or on the NFL COVID inactive list, will be subject to a standard weekly fine of $3.00. Team QB’s and KK’s are not eligible to be placed on IR due to injury except for a season ending injury (placed on season ending NFL IR) to a QB who can be placed on our IR to be eligible as a keeper for the following season. Suspended players are not eligible for IR. If the starting QB or KK is injured, you will receive the points for his backup unless you pick up and start another Team QB or KK. In the event a player on your IR plays in a game, you must activate him for the next week unless he is again listed as doubtful or out. Players who are listed as questionable or doubtful but played in a game must be placed on your active before the Tuesday night deadline. If you place a player on the IR during the waiver process or open free agency period that does not end up on the injury report and ends up playing, you will need to release the awarded free agent, release the original player, or be subject to a $3 fine and be required to fix your roster the following week per the guidelines listed above. The transaction fee for that waiver claim will remain in effect so it is in your best interest to obtain accurate injury information before making a claim. This is to avoid teams from making a bunch of claims early in the week and just rescinding them closer to game time. The commissioner may choose to clean-up any non-compliant roster beginning at 8am on Sunday morning or to remove players from the IR who are ineligible to be there.
Free agent acquisitions will cost $3.00 for each move excepting COVID replacements, when picked up outside of the waiver wire. Trades will also not incur a charge. There will be no charge to place or remove players from the injured reserve. You will be charged for any new player added to your roster, except in the case of a trade or COVID replacement player picked up during open free agency. It is your choice to spend both your FAB money and real money if you wish to use the waiver wire to replace a player placed on the COVID list. Rosters will not be frozen. You can replace a player who is placed on the injured reserve. No trades between teams will be permitted after the twelfth week of the season. The internet web site www.rtsports.com will be opened for pickups on Thursday after 4:00PM EST. Players may be picked up until 9:00PM on Monday or until that players’ game starts regardless of the day of the game. There will not be any protected players as in the past due to COVID issues. All released players will be available Thursday after 4:00PM. We will have an open free agent season before Week one to accommodate any late injuries or suspensions. The same $3.00 fee will incur for each transaction.
If you have players not playing due to bye weeks, you may replace that player with another player on your roster or you can pick up any player who does not appear on another roster. To pick up a new player, you may have to place the existing roster player on the IR TEMPORARILY. You will be charged the same $3 free agent acquisition fee for each player when replacing someone on a bye. This will occur through Wednesday waivers or first come, first served during the open period beginning Thursday at 4:00PM. You may replace a bye week player even if you have another available position player on your roster. Teams that choose not to start a complete starting lineup due to byes or players on the NFL IR will be fined $3.00 for that week with the money going into the transaction pool.
It is your responsibility to clean up your rosters from the previous week with bye week players you will not be using so that other teams will have the full complement of available players to fill their own roster in case of a bye week or injury. You must clean up your roster by Tuesday midnight, thereby allowing other teams a full complement of available free agents for the waiver process. Teams that do not comply with this rule will automatically be charged the standard $3.00 fine for that week with the money going into the transaction pool. Again, there is no charge to reactivate a roster player after the bye week has concluded. This rule will only apply to bye week acquisitions as the NFL injury report often cannot be considered reliable.
The league will use the wavier wire on the internet www.rtsports.com for requesting players prior to midnight on Wednesday of the week. An owner can submit his request for a player at any time. We will be using a Free Agent Budget to request players on the waiver wire. Each team will begin with a $100 budget to use throughout the year to make blind bids for players during the waiver wire process. You can place a minimum bid of $1 up to the maximum $100 bid. Highest bidder wins the player. If two teams make the same bid, the team with the worst record will win the player. Once you have spent the $100 FAB you will not be eligible to make waiver claims. You still will be able to select free agents as normal once the waiver process has concluded. If a player is not claimed during the waiver period, he will be available after 4:00PM on Thursday. You can request as many players as you like but will only be awarded three per waiver period on Wednesday. Free agent transactions from Thursday through Monday are unlimited.
As noted above, players that are placed on the COVID inactive list by the NFL are allowed to be replaced free of charge but not until the conclusion of the waiver wire beginning at 8:00 AM on Friday. Again, you have the option to spend your FAB and transaction fee if you wish to participate in the waiver wire to replace a COVID inactive player. There is no limit to the number of players you can replace so long as they have been deemed inactive by the NFL. They must be activated or released as soon as they have been activated by the NFL so that any released players are eligible free agents for other teams.
Clearly COVID will not be as big an issue as in the past, but we will continue with Team QBs for this year. Your quarterback must be named at the start of the game, and you will get the points scored by the teams’ quarterback for that game. This is to protect a team in the league from being penalized late into the season because their regular players are being rested for the playoffs or for COVID issues. This rule also applies to kickers.
Each team will play one defense/special team. The defense will score points on touchdowns, interceptions, fumble recoveries, sacks, safeties, and points allowed. If an interception, or fumble recovery turns into a touchdown you will get the points for the touchdown based on the distance the play covered (see scoring). The team defense includes all players in the game on defense. If a defensive player scores an offensive touchdown the points will not count. The special teams will score points on kickoffs and punt returns. You will get the points for the touchdown based on the distance the play covered (see scoring). Both the player and the Special Teams will get credit for the Touchdown. If you have both the player and the D/ST in the game both will get credit for the score.
In the unlikely event of a controversial play the official scoring of the NFL will prevail. If a determination cannot be made for any reason on a scoring play, the commissioner will contact all team owners not involved in the play for their input and then rule accordingly. The scoring of www.rtsports.com will be the final score. In the event a scoring play or the yardage is changed during the week, www.rtsports.com will apply the changes and the stats will be final.
Lineups can be changed at any point up until the start of the game that each player is involved in. Once a game has started the players involved in that game are frozen. If you fail to enter a lineup, you will automatically play the same lineup from the week before. If you fail to enter before a Thursday game and your player does not score, you cannot change him on Sunday. If you have computer problems, you may call or text your lineup into the commissioner at 330-760-0731 or email me at dmarkle56@yahoo.com. In the likely event that the commissioner is golfing or boating, the lineup may be adjusted after a game has started assuming the commissioner received the email, text or call before game time. You ARE required to start a complete team each week regardless of bye week issues or current standings as other teams can be impacted. Failure to start a complete team will result in a $3.00 fine which will go to the transaction pool.
Each week during the 17 weeks of the season, $20.00 will be paid to the team who scores the most points for that week. $15.00 will be paid to the team with the second highest points, $10 to the team with the third highest total and $5.00 to the fourth highest total.
Prize monies will consist of $1608.00. Each team will pay $134.00 for the season. A settlement sheet will be sent out as soon as possible following our Week 17 Super Bowl. Disbursement of all winnings will occur as soon as the league has received all money owed. An initial payment of $75.00 will facilitate the disbursement of funds at the end of the season. There is a link in the internet site that details the status of your account both regarding payments made and transactions.
The teams with the most points for the season (all 17 weeks) will split the money from roster moves. The money will go to the top five (5) teams. It will be divided by percentage, 30% for first, 25% for second, 20% for third, 15% for fourth, and 10% for fifth.
In the event a tie game occurs during the playoffs, the winner will be determined by the total points for their entire roster. If a tie still exists, the second tiebreaker will be longest play from scrimmage.
We will again have a limited keeper option for 2023-2024. This will only affect next year’s team but may impact what you do through the year with free agent acquisitions. You will have the option to keep any single player acquired during the season as a free agent who ends up on your final active roster for the following year only. If you choose to keep said player, you will forfeit your pick one round later than the rtsports ranking at such time as I send out the final keeper list for the year. Please note that the commissioner reserves the right to rescind any unnecessary late season drops that could be used as a keeper for the following year as well as any drop that occurs outside the waiver process. All teams should have an equal opportunity to acquire a player that might be a valuable keeper option via the waiver process.
