The following document brings to bear the guidelines that will forever shape and define the future of HCWCAQ to be set forth unto infinity. These guidelines shall be enforced unless an almost formal committee overturns and/or sets forth new regulations. These guidelines shall be reviewed by the league previous to the initiation of the next season with much drinking. If for some reason no one is physically or mentally capable of drinking or reviewing then the official review of the guidelines will be considered nullified and the guidelines as stated for the previous year will be in effect for the current draft.
Rules:
Rule changes are typically all made at the end of the season when things are fresh in everyone's mind. They are subject to working with, or modified to work with, our database. Proposed changes are posted on the message board along with any considerations / variations to fine tune. Anything new that would affect how you draft is to be firmly decided days before the draft.
Draft:
Draft is 3:00pm Sunday of the weekend before the long weekend; bring the $60. Serpentine Draft order is random. If you find you picked someone else's pick, you pick from remaining players at time the error is discovered. Auto-drafters please go into draft room settings and customize players per slot and draft style. After the draft, our website will be used to check and see if any players are ineligible for IR's later due to already being injured, released, jailed or becoming a sportscaster prior to draft.

D/ST/HC are team picks.
Game Picks:
Pickem Pool: We recommend entering all game picks for all weeks now and tweaking them later. Missed picks have no default. $2 per week is awarded to the owner with the highest total. The first person to 100 correct picks wins $10. The person with the most correct season-long picks wins $15. The winner has the most correct picks, 100 or above, at the end of any group of games.
Survivor Pool: For the survivor pool, the winner(s) receive a total or split of $10. You pick one winner each week but they can be only used once, three strikes and you are out.
Injuries (IR):
If the player was not drafted injured, and is listed as IR, then IR him on your roster. It is under Teams / I/R Players, then click the blue plus beside their name and save. Using waiver wire of free agency, you can get a new player in place of them. Once the team activates the original player from IR and they take the field, you have until the next waiver wire to either add them to your roster or drop them.
Waiver Wire:
Waiver Wire runs every Wednesday and Saturday night at 11:00pm with a free agency period from Sun 4:25am to Sun 4:25pm. Note that you can't drop a player Saturday that played Thursday.
To make a claim, go to Teams / Waiver Wire, click +Make Claim. On the left, select your category, then click + beside the players names in order starting with your first choice. Note that you are able to drop and pickup players from different categories as long as you are still within your limits. You can find the limits by scrolling down past our history to Rosters. Note that if you have already IRed a player and therefore have room on your active roster, then you can pick up another player without having to drop anyone. On the right, click - No Drops - and select the player you are dropping from the drop down menu and leave the other drop down menu beside it as Drop, unless he can be IRed and you wish to keep him and you have less than the 3 IRs already, in which case you can select To IR. Then click '?"Save
If you have multiple drops you can make multiple claim groups and each claim group can have multiple claims/players. Note that you may want to break up your drops into more than one claim to try a get a good player in at least one category.
For Free Agency runs Sunday 4:25am to 4:25pm. With the exception of a player who was dropped in the Saturday waiver wire and therefore protected, you can pickup any remaining players that have not played by going to Teams / Add-Drop Players / and drop/add up to a max of two (includes waiver wire moves).
Payouts:
Scoring logic - last $10, 2nd last=last +$2, 3rd last=2nd last +$3... (remaining after reaching top 3 divided as 3rd-20%, 2nd-30%, 1st-50%)
All Pro $5 per top 5 categories if holding player from draft or 1st supplemental and still week 18.
Playoffs:
Playoffs are individual and require a completely new roster that you can pick any time prior to the start of the first wildcard. Choose any 38 players with a limit of 6 RB, 8 WR and 4 of everything else. You will play up to half each week (19) plus one flex (RB/WR/TE). You will be able to drop up to 4 players and pickup up to 4 players in the first two weeks combined. You must make the deadline, keep slots the same, for a combined max total of 4 (ie. if you add/drop 4 players the first week you have no moves left the second week.)
Adding and dropping players will be open Tuesday morning to Sunday night up until the team/player's game has started and should be the same way as when you picked your roster.
Scoring will be the same as the regular season. Payouts are 50%, 30% & 20% for the top 3.
There are game picks for each week but it is for pride only, no payout.
History:
In the beginning... except for the brief flashes of lightning, darkness enveloped the outskirts of the small hamlet not far from the shores of Lake Huron. The wind blew full across the old shed as there were no buildings in its path to slow it. Even from a distance, with the shed door being blown partially open, straining against the old catch, the sight of furniture suspended upside-down from the ceiling, warned all that they approached the rim of the unnatural. A flared nostril would catch the intertwined smell of smoke and spirits emanating from within. Huddled around a table, long in the family of the Heftys, gathered the usual suspects, although there was to be nothing usual about this night. Jagged bits of profanity could still be heard cutting through the rain, but a stronger, chilling voice ran over them, quieting them.
Taken hold of by a long forgotten power, reaching out from beyond its domain, a mortal hand was guided. Through the howling of the wind it whispered and inscribed its hallowed plan in the mind of a man that a select few have come to both fear and revere. Standing beside strands of butcher paper stained with the remnants of blood, in a posture defying description, he slowly and methodically marked the names of the immortal and the damned. Having smuggled the orb of corporeal gridiron knowledge with him out of the city, he butchered and twisted it until it matched his mind's eye of the carnage he wished to create by pitting man against man. Some with reserve, and some too eagerly, a new group of initiates would enter his realm in a trial by fire where the burning never ends.
The seven who emerged before the sun crested, although looking the same, were forever changed and still changing in secret, in a macabre quest to claim the new spoils of war through decimation. That next morning, with the old shed's doors shut, looking like any other dilapidated building, no one suspected that it had given birth to an abomination... an ordered but seething chaotic group possessing arcane knowledge... that would eventually be forged into.... and unleashed as..... the HCWCAQ.
