Mayfield has become must start

Hopefully, this is a trend and not a fluke, but it sure is fun seeing impactful trades happen in the NFL. This makes things a lot more interesting. And this usually isn’t a thing in the middle of an NFL season. Here is to hoping this becomes the norm going forward.

Now for my random thoughts. . . . .

Let’s talk about these trades and what it means for fantasy owners. I will look at the Davante Adams trade first. This is a big positive for the fantasy value of both Adams and Aaron Rodgers. They have a clear history together and have posted huge numbers in the past. I expect these two to have a rapport right away and Adams to produce like an elite No. 1 fantasy receiver. Rodgers is also looking better as a fantasy quarterback, getting another top weapon to add to his offense. He already is playing a little better, having 20-plus fantasy points two of four games. Rodgers is looking better and better for fantasy owners.

Now this trade really hurts the value of Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, though. Wilson will see a dip in targets and no longer be the go-to option in the passing game. Lazard has been serviceable but will be the ultimate boom or bust play going forward.

This trade also has ramifications for the Raiders. Las Vegas has already been without Adams in recent weeks, though, so it should be more of the same for them. Tight end Brock Bowers is likely going to lead this team in receptions this year. Much like Sam LaPorta last year as a rookie, it would not surprise me if Bowers finishes first overall in fantasy tight end scoring. He is looking really good.

The Bills get a huge boost to their passing game, adding Amari Cooper. He finally gives Josh Allen a top receiver. Look for Allen to target him early and often. This also is a big positive for Cooper, moving to a much, much, much better offense. His fantasy stock is going up. Allen should see a bump as well. Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku should be the biggest benefactors from the Cooper departure. I think Njoku is going to get a ton of weekly targets going forward.

I always tell people not to panic about certain players but if I’m a Travis Etienne owner, I am panicking. He had an awful game last week and hasn’t been very good most of the year. And backup Tank Bigsby has been the better back of the two most of the season. And now Etienne is battling a hamstring injury, which could give Bigsby more chances to run away with the starter’s job in Jacksonville. Things are trending the wrong way for Etienne right now.

Houston was a surprise last year, sneaking into the playoffs after years of futility. They aren’t sneaking up on anyone this year and still playing very well. This team is 5-1 and sitting near the top of the entire AFC. The thing that has surprised me the most this year is the defense. That side of the ball has really upped their game. This is a lot more complete team that could make a serious run in the playoffs.

I don’t understand how the Browns can keep trotting Deshaun Watson out there as their starting quarterback. He has been a complete disaster since joining the Browns. And things aren’t getting any better for him or the offense. If I’m head coach and likely fighting to keep my job, I make a move to Jameis Winston. He can’t be any worse, right? Plus, this would be a boost to the fantasy value of all the playmakers for the Browns. This needs to happen sooner than later.

I am a little surprised the Steelers are moving on from Justin Fields. I know he hasn’t been great throwing the ball but he is leading the team to wins and making plays with his legs to give the offense life. Fields has five rushing touchdowns his last four games. Russell Wilson is not going to be able to make the type of plays with his legs. Wilson will be a better thrower but I’m not sure he is that big of an upgrade in that area. He has struggled to throw the ball in recent seasons and doesn’t seem to be the same quarterback from earlier in his career. It will be interesting to see if this move to Wilson backfires on the Steelers. I’m not sure I would have done it.

News and Notes: Texans defensive end Mario Edwards has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. . . . .The Raiders traded receiver Davante Adams to the Jets for a third-round pick that can become a second-rounder based on performance on Tuesday. Adams reunites with Aaron Rodgers. . . . .Cleveland traded receiver Amari Cooper along with a 2025 sixth-round draft choice to Buffalo in exchange for a 2025 third-round draft choice and a 2026 seventh-round draft choice on Tuesday. Cooper immediately becomes the top receiver in the Bills offense. . . . .The Texans traded running back Cam Akers and a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick to the Vikings for a 2026 sixth-round pick on Tuesday. Akers gives the Vikings some depth at running back with Aaron Jones hurting. . . . .The Bills released wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Tuesday. He was expendable after the team traded for Amari Cooper. . . . The Packers signed kicker Brandon McManus on Tuesday. He is expected to take over the kicking duties for the Packers immediately.

HOT PLAYS

Baker Mayfield, QB, Bucs. Believe it or not, Mayfield is second overall in fantasy quarterback scoring right now. He has three games with 30-plus fantasy points and three or more touchdowns four of six games. He has been super consistent in the Bucs offense. At this point, he is a must start for fantasy owners. The numbers don’t lie. And expect him to keep his hot ways this week against a Ravens team that really struggles against the pass. Baltimore is 31st against the pass, allowing 275.7-passing yards per game, and allows the second most fancy points to quarterbacks.

Tony Pollard, RB, Titans. Pollard found the end zone for the second straight game last week and has 15-plus points four of five games. He has played very well for his new team and gets a lot of weekly chances. And now Tyjae Spears is banged up and could miss time, meaning Pollard could be setup for an even bigger workload. That is great news for him this week against the Bills, a team that was shredded by the Jets on the ground last week and allows the second most fantasy points to running backs for the season.

Diontae Johnson, WR, Panthers. Johnson scored his third touchdown of the season last week and has scores three of four games. He looks like a different player with Andy Dalton throwing him passes. Johnson has double-digit targets three of four games as well. Look for him to get another big workload this week against the Commanders. The Panthers are going to have to score some points if they hope to win this one, so look for the passing game to get a workout against a bad secondary. Washington allows the fifth most fantasy points to receivers and was torched by Zay Flowers last week.

Zay Flowers, WR, Ravens. Flowers has two straight 100-yard games. The Ravens might be a run-heavy team but Flowers still gets plenty of looks. He has double-digit targets three of six games. He has six or more receptions four games. Flowers is emerging as that solid No. 1 fantasy receiver in maybe the best offense in football. Look for him to have another big showing this week against the Bucs. Tampa is very good against the run but struggles to stop the pass. The Bucs are 28th overall against the pass and allow the sixth most fantasy points to receivers.

Sam LaPorta, TE, Lions. LaPorta had just a catch last week but it went for a 52-yards touchdown. He is off to a slow start this year but is playing better of late, having 50-plus yards two straight games. The Lions need to get him more involved in the offense, so look for that to start happening this week against the Vikings. This should be a high-scoring game, so get as many players involved as possible, including LaPorta. And Minnesota has struggled to stop the tight end this year, allowing the sixth most fantasy points to tight ends.

COLD PLAYS

Russell Wilson, QB, Steelers. Wilson is getting his shot to start once again, getting inserted into the Steelers starting lineup. That doesn’t mean he belongs in your fantasy lineup, though. His numbers have been really ho-hum in recent seasons. Plus, the Steelers are a run-heavy offense with Justin Fields doing most of his damage as a runner himself.  Wilson also has a tough first game against the Jets. New York is second overall against the pass and allows the third fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Packers. Jacobs gets a ton of weekly volume but his numbers haven’t been great. He has fewer than 65-rushing yards three of four games and just one 100-yard rushing game on the season. His fantasy numbers have been pretty ho-hum, especially considering the volume. Things could be tough for him on the ground again this week against a good Texans rush defense. Houston allows the fifth fewest fantasy points to running backs.

Michael Wilson, WR, Cardinals. Marvin Harrison Jr. took a huge hit last week and could miss some time because of a concussion. This leaves Wilson as the top target at receiver. That doesn’t mean he is a sure thing for fantasy owners, though. He did score a touchdown last week but had just two receptions for 21 yards. He has fewer than 40 yards two of three games. We still consider him more of a matchup play and a game against the Chargers is not a good one for him. Los Angeles has one of the best pass defenses in football, allowing the eighth fewest passing yards per game. The Chargers allow the fifth fewest fantasy points to receivers.

Trey Sermon, RB, Colts. Sermon might be starting with Jonathan Taylor out but he is not doing much with his chances. He has 28 carries for just 67 yards his last two games. He is a touchdown-dependent fantasy player in a starting role. And backup Tyler Goodson is playing well with his work and could be cutting into the workload of Sermon even more. We might just stay away from Sermon, even if Taylor misses more games. He isn’t worth the risk despite a favorable matchup against the Dolphins this week.

Darnell Mooney, WR, Falcons. Mooney is becoming a bit of a boom-or-bust fantasy play. He has three games with 14-plus fantasy points and three others with fewer than double-digit points. He had just three catches for 38 yards in a favorable matchup against the Panthers last week. His matchup is tougher this week against a good Seahawks defense. Seattle has been pretty stingy against the pass and allows the 11th fewest fantasy points to receivers.

SLEEPERS

Aidan O’Connell, QB, Raiders. O’Connell had a good first start against a solid Steelers defense last week. He was 27-of-40 for 227 yards and a touchdown. He moved the offense and made some plays down the field despite missing two of his top receivers. Both those guys could be back this week, though, which would be a huge lift for O’Connell. Plus, he has a great matchup against the Rams. The Rams allow the seventh most fantasy points to quarterbacks. O’Connell is a guy to take a chance on if you need quarterback help in Week 7.

Austin Ekeler, RB, Commanders.  Ekeler didn’t get much more work in a starting role last week but had 13 total touches for 68 yards. He topped double-digit fantasy points once again. His numbers haven’t been off the charts this year but very consistent, having double-digit fantasy points every single game. You can’t ask for much more. We look for him to have another solid game this week against the Panthers. It might even be his best game of the year. Carolina is a mess right now, allowing the most fantasy points to running backs. The Panthers are 30th overall against the run, allowing 153.5-rushing yards per game.

Demario Douglas, WR, Patriots. Douglas had a career-best 92 yards last week on six receptions. He has nine targets each of his last two games. Douglas has six or more receptions three of four games, emerging as the top receiver for the Patriots And with Drake Maye now running the show, Douglas is looking even better for fantasy owners. He could be a solid weekly play going forward, especially this week against the Jaguars. Jacksonville is another team reeling, ranking dead last against the pass. The Jaguars also allow the second most fantasy points to receivers.

Ladd McConkey, WR, Chargers. McConkey has been alright his rookie season. He has double-digit fantasy points two of five games. He has at least four receptions three of five games. It was encouraging to see the Chargers air it out more last week, throwing a season-high 34 passes. This is good news for McConkey and all the Chargers receivers. McConkey played the most snaps of any Chargers receiver last week (63 percent), so he is the guy to play in this offense. The Chargers could throw more again this week against a bad Cardinals secondary. Arizona allows the eighth most fantasy points to receivers and is 22nd overall against the pass.

Dalton Schultz, TE, Texans. With Nico Collins out last week, Schultz had a season-high eight targets. He has four receptions each of his last two games. He still hasn’t reached double-digit fantasy points this year, but look for that to change this week. He can get a lot of targets once again and convert those to more yards. The Packers are 25th against the pass and allow the third most fantasy points to tight ends. Schultz could get a workout in this one.

High/Low Scoring Games

Each week we will take a look at some of the high and low scoring games for the coming week. In high scoring affairs, get your marginal players on those teams in your lineup to take advantage of the possible points barrage. And in the low scoring games, keep those marginal players on the bench and make sure to have your defenses involved in those contests.

High Scoring Games: Lions/Vikings, Texans/Packers, Panthers/Commanders, Ravens/Bucs.

Low Scoring Games: Broncos/Saints, Dolphins/Colts, Jets/Steelers.

Byes: Cowboys, Bears.

Hot Plays, Fades and Sleepers: Week 8

Player Notes
Jerry Jeudy Oct 25 7:20pm ET
Jerry Jeudy

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (knee) practiced fully all week despite being listed on the team's injury report with a knee injury and is without an injury status heading into a Week 8 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Jeudy failed to take advantage of the trade that sent Amari Cooper to Buffalo last week, catching just one pass for 18 yards in a Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He will look to bounce back against a Ravens defense allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this season. Jeudy has a chance to turn in a big game thanks to the plus matchup but he should be treated as a WR4 in fantasy heading into the weekend.

Tyjae Spears Oct 25 7:20pm ET
Tyjae Spears

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) has logged limited practices all week and is currently questionable for the upcoming matchup vs. Detroit on Sunday. Spears season has been marred by injury, as the second-year back has missed one game and left two others early due to injury. Even if he's active on Sunday, it is tough to find a reason for starting Spears in fantasy given the state of the Titans offense and how stout Detroit is against the run. The Lions are third-best in limiting opponents on the ground, and with Spears at risk of re-injury, he's not likely to produce much in the rushing department. The only path to fantasy relevance here is Spears reclaiming his slice of the passing game pie, but that is not reliable enough even for a deeper-league start.

Tucker Kraft Oct 25 7:10pm ET
Tucker Kraft

Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft returned to the scoring column in Week 7 and looks to repeat that this week as the Packers head down to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars in Week 8. Kraft caught a touchdown pass to save his week in Week 7 where he had three receptions for 33 yards on four targets. He's been excellent for fantasy managers over the past month, as since Week 4, Kraft has been the overall TE3 in fantasy points per game with two overall TE1 weeks in Week 4 and Week 5. Sometimes, it can be difficult for Kraft to stand out in a crowded pass-catching group that the Packers have, but he's reliably on the field a ton and is targeted plenty by quarterback Jordan Love. Against the Jaguars, Kraft should have less resistance than in most matchups as Jacksonville has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the tight end position. Kraft is a TE1 in Week 8 in a game where passing volume could be very high between both the Packers and Jaguars.

Calvin Ridley Oct 25 7:10pm ET
Calvin Ridley

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley faces the Detroit Lions in Week 8 NFL action on Sunday. Ridley missed two practices this week but logged a full session on Friday, which helped him avoid an injury designation heading into the weekend. Him and DeAndre Hopkins have split games of being the "alpha" receiver in this offense in terms of target share, but now the latter is now off to join forces with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs after being traded this past week. That makes Ridley the clear top option in this passing attack, but he has shown poor chemistry with both Titans quarterbacks to date. It is unclear which signal caller will get the start in Detroit, but regardless of who it is, Ridley would be the ultimate boom-bust play facing a Detroit secondary that concedes the fifth-most points to fantasy WRs on the year. Matchup, game script, and opportunity shift are all looking positive for Ridley in this one, but even with those aligned in the past, he has let fantasy managers down. Ridley is a risky WR3 for the upcoming matchup in Detroit.

From RotoBaller

Mason Rudolph Oct 25 7:00pm ET
Mason Rudolph

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo faces the Lions in a cross-conference matchup this Sunday in Detroit. Okonkwo had his highest yardage total of the season last week with 50, almost tripling his next highest output (16). It's been that kind of year for the young tight end and this Titans' offense as a whole. DeAndre Hopkins being moved to Kansas City opens up some extra targets that could go Okonkwo's way, but he is about to face a defense that has allowed the second-fewest yards to tight ends on the year. Mason Rudolph drawing the start would give Okonkwo the slightest viability in deeper-leagues, but his upside is still limited.

From RotoBaller

Cedric Tillman Oct 25 7:00pm ET
Cedric Tillman

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman had a breakout performance in his team's Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, catching eight balls for 81 yards. Tillman will look to continue the success in Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens at home while the Browns will hope that they found their new WR1 after trading Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills ahead of Week 7. Tillman has a chance for a big game against a Baltimore secondary that is allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this year. Trusting anyone on the Cleveland offense is a bit of a stretch this season but Tillman is on the map as a WR4 in fantasy thanks to the plus matchup.

From RotoBaller

Christian Watson Oct 25 7:00pm ET
Christian Watson

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (ankle) practiced in limited fashion on Wednesday and Thursday but put together a full practice and was removed from the team's injury report, indicating that he's good to go for the Packers' Week 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The story for Watson has been up and down, as he's paired some touchdown-dependent games with several clunkers, like last week where he only earned two targets, catching one of those targets for nine yards. Watson and Dontayvion Wicks have essentially split a role in this offense over the last couple of weeks, with Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed maintaining their roles as full-time players. As long as Watson isn't running a full routes share, he's going to be very hard to trust in fantasy. That said, the matchup is great for Watson and he has loads of big-play potential. For Week 8, consider Watson a low-end WR4 option that is heavily reliant on the big play to matter in fantasy.

From RotoBaller

Bijan Robinson Oct 25 7:00pm ET
Bijan Robinson

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is coming off his biggest workload of the season so far (26 touches, 143 total yards) and the 22-year-old is averaging a solid 4.7 yards per rush through seven games. His Week 8 opponent, Tampa Bay, has been poor at stopping the run, yielding 5.3 yards per rush, which is third-worst in all of football. Despite this, teams have attacked Tampa Bay through the air, and in Week 5, Robinson totaled just 12 rush attempts against these same Buccaneers. Look for a slight uptick in workload since Kirk Cousins likely won't be throwing 58 passes this time around, and with at least three receptions in six of seven contests, the former first-round pick should be involved in the passing game regardless. Also keep in mind that running backs Derrick Henry and Justice Hill recorded touchdown receptions against the Bucs last week. With Tampa missing their top two receivers, this one has the look of a slower-paced contest which should keep the running backs busy, so trust Robinson as an RB1 again in Week 8, albeit a mid-range one.

From RotoBaller

Nick Chubb Oct 25 6:50pm ET
Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb made a triumphant return to the field last week as he scored a touchdown in his first game in over a year. He will look to keep it going in Week 8's home game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have been very beatable through the air this season but they have been tough against the run, allowing the 20th-most fantasy points per game to running backs thus far. Chubb should get the majority of the work on early downs but he still settles in as an RB3 in fantasy thanks to the challenging matchup.

From RotoBaller

Tyler Boyd Oct 25 6:50pm ET
Tyler Boyd

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tyler Boyd will face the Detroit Lions in a Week 8 matchup on Sunday. The longtime Bengals wideout hasn't been very relevant for fantasy this year finishing as a top-60 receiver only once on the season. Poor quarterback play and target competition have mainly been the culprit, but Boyd's role should increase after DeAndre Hopkins was shipped off to Kansas City earlier this week. The Titans' #1 wideout Calvin Ridley is currently questionable with a foot injury, which means Boyd could potentially be the top WR for the Titans this weekend. That position hasn't exactly been a guarantee of fantasy success, but the Titans will likely be in catch-up mode the entire afternoon which could lead to more opportunity for Boyd. Detroit also ranks dead-last in the NFL in slot points allowed to WRs this season, which is primarily where Boyd lines up. There is limited ceiling here, but Boyd could provide a safe spot start for fantasy managers, especially if Ridley misses.

From RotoBaller

Romeo Doubs Oct 25 6:50pm ET
Romeo Doubs

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has been the most productive Packers' pass-catcher over the last couple of games and he looks to keep that streak going in a matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. Doubs has put together WR11 and WR13 performances in the last two weeks following a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team back in Week 5. Where the first game back in Week 6 was primarily reliant on his two touchdowns, Week 7's game was based on receiving volume as he led the team with 10 targets, eight receptions and 94 receiving yards. Doubs has pretty solid so far this season and against a pass-funnel defense in the Jaguars, he should be able to return WR3-level fantasy production with the upside for much more with the way he's played lately.

From RotoBaller

Joe Mixon Oct 25 6:40pm ET
Joe Mixon

In his first season with the Houston Texans, running back Joe Mixon has been an excellent fantasy option, which should continue in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts. The former Cincinnati Bengal has played three full games in the Texans' offense, all of which concluded with a top-five finish among fantasy running backs. The veteran back has earned 13 red-zone carries in the past two weeks alone, and now faces a Colts defense that he torched for 178 total yards in Week 1. Given his volume and the matchup, Mixon should be in starting lineups in all formats against Indy.

From RotoBaller

C.J. Stroud Oct 25 6:40pm ET
C.J. Stroud

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has a favorable Week 8 matchup against Indianapolis, welcome news after a rough performance last week at Green Bay in which he failed to crack 100 passing yards. Last year's Rookie of the Year has been unremarkable as a fantasy option this season relative to where he was drafted. He has just two top-10 finishes in seven games, although one of them was against the Colts in Week 1. Indy ranks 26th in air yards allowed and has surrendered 10 passing touchdowns so far this season. With this matchup, Stroud is still in starting territory in one-QB formats.

From RotoBaller

Jameis Winston Oct 25 6:40pm ET
Jameis Winston

Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston will step in as the team's starter for a Week 8 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Winston will make his first start for the Browns after the team lost Deshaun Watson to a season-ending Achilles injury during a Week 7 loss. The veteran quarterback draws a plus matchup against a Ravens secondary that is allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in 2024. It is tough to predict how Winston will play for a Cleveland offense that has issues at offensive line but he is worth a look as a boom/bust QB2 in fantasy heading into the weekend.

From RotoBaller

Jayden Reed Oct 25 6:40pm ET
Jayden Reed

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (ankle) put in a full practice on Friday after two limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday to be removed from the injury report for the Packers' Week 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Reed has been up and down this season and is coming off a down week where he only caught two passes for 10 yards on four targets. Luckily for Reed and the Packers, they'll get a true pass funnel defense in the Jaguars, where Reed should be able to carve them up. Reed has been used mostly in the short passing game at the line of scrimmage on most of his targets this season, but the hope is that some of the targets he'll receive are deeper, as he's been immensely successful downfield too. With Jordan Love dominating opposing defenses this season and Reed being his main target, fire up Reed as a low-end WR1 option with massive upside in Week 8.

From RotoBaller

Dalton Schultz Oct 25 6:30pm ET
Dalton Schultz

On one hand, Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has one of his best matchups of the season against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. On the other, it has been pretty difficult for fantasy managers to trust the veteran tight end. The former Dallas Cowboy has not finished as a top-15 fantasy tight end in any week this season, and he is now coming off a season-low one catch on two targets last week. The Colts rank among the bottom five against fantasy tight ends, though Schultz had just three catches for 16 yards in the first meeting in Week 1. He should be considered a TE2 despite the enticing matchup.

From RotoBaller

Tony Pollard Oct 25 6:30pm ET
Tony Pollard

Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard faces the Detroit Lions in a Week 8 road matchup this weekend. Pollard underwhelmed against a bad rush defense but was mostly game scripted out in the second half against Buffalo last week. The Lions boast one of the best rush defenses in the NFL, allowing the third-fewest yards on the ground in the NFL through seven weeks. Tyjae Spears did play against the Bills but is likely to return this week after having practiced in limited fashion for three consecutive days. That will take snaps away from Pollard, especially if the Lions go up early in this one. Pollard did draw six targets last week so he may remain involved in the passing game even with Spears back in the mix, but with the tough matchup and less opportunity inbound he's only a lower-end RB2 for this game.

From RotoBaller

Tank Dell Oct 25 6:30pm ET
Tank Dell

Coming off his worst game of the year, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell is a boom-or-bust flex option in a decent matchup in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts. Fantasy managers who played the 24-year-old receiver last week got crickets: no catches on four targets, including a drop of a would-have-been touchdown. Houston remains committed to keeping him involved, however, and leading receiver Nico Collins (hamstring) is out at least two more weeks. The Colts have allowed 10 passing touchdowns in seven games and rank 26th in air yards allowed. Dell believers will feel he's due for a rebound in Week 8, but he comes with obvious risk.

From RotoBaller

Stefon Diggs Oct 25 6:30pm ET
Stefon Diggs

Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs remains a high-floor starting lineup option when the Texans take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. The veteran receiver has been a nice WR2 option with steady production every week, garnering at least six targets and four catches in every game. With wide receiver Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve, though, the former Bill is temporarily the No. 1 option in Houston and playing a Colts team against whom he caught two touchdowns in Week 1. The upside of the role, the offense, and the matchup should have fantasy managers confidently starting Diggs as a fringe WR1 in Week 8.

From RotoBaller

Josh Jacobs Oct 25 6:10pm ET
Josh Jacobs

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is likely to get plenty of volume, but his upside may be capped a bit when Jacobs and Packers travel down to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars in Week 8. While the Jaguars' defense is susceptible through the air, they're a true pass funnel defense as they are 12th in defensive EPA allowed per rushing attempt. With Jacobs, he's relied a ton on volume rather than efficiency, as he's had just one top-12 finish amongst running backs this season. Jacobs enters Week 8 with just two touchdowns on the season and only one 100-yard game, so we're really relying on the touchdown here to make for a good week. While Jacobs has a very stable floor for fantasy managers, the ceiling hasn't been there this season, making him a volume-dependent RB2 option in Week 8 against the Jaguars with the hope that he scores.
