I disagree with your premise on calculators though. If used to assist you in your evaluation of a trade, they are extremely helpful. Calcs have improved greatly over the years, and now allow input of: number of teams/starters/positional requirements/scoring/PPR/TE premium/Superflex and other variables depending on the calc. If u haven't tried one in a while, check out "KTC Dynasty". It is of course only for dynasty but almost all trading occurs in dynasty/keeper leagues anyway.

The important details about the construction and direction of your own team and the team you are negotiating with must be calculated by the individual owners. That difference [of circumstances and personal opinions] is where "deals get done". I personally try to figure what a potential trade partner may need and offer accordingly (except for sometimes late at night after my meds kick in then, watch out for the occasional stinker)LOL. Then I'll consult 1 or more trade calcs to see if it's reasonably in line with most other team owners.

The beauty of calcs is they don't have opinions. They assign a value to a player according to data sets input to the calc. It then spits out, basically, a consensus value on players within the set parameters of your trade. Definitely not random!
Keep-Trade-Cut uses crowdsourced data. So, the "crowd" decides the consensus player values. Not all of the users are wise, and I sometimes scratch my head at a player's price. But if it doesn't look right check another calc, or, check out their "trade database". Input players and it shows every real-life trade that a player was involved in, and when and in what format it happened. So, if a player has been traded 10 times in the past 4 weeks for a mid 3rd round pick and a bagachips, you should not have the expectation of getting an early 1st. A trade calculator can't tell you if a trade is good or bad, it's just showing you a reflection of dynasty players values from all over. I trust other trade calcs more than KTC, but everyone has access to this one.

We all use some type of ranking or value system (ADP) for our drafts. The ADP doesn't tell us who to draft, but it does tell us when most other people will draft a particular player. Then each individual owner makes the evaluation of said players value within their own team.

IMO, if you don't know how others value players, you're doing yourself (and maybe trade partners) a huge disservice. Use whatever tools are available to you. Make that technology work for you! And most importantly, have some fun out there. This is, after all "a game" to be enjoyed.

An aside, Is there redraft trade calculators? I have never used one. I'd give it a try
