Crash Landing in NW Indiana

Ben Johnson left Detroit thinking he was upgrading.

“Chicago Bears. Historic franchise. Big city. Huge opportunity.”

Then they moved to Hammond, Indiana.

Ben showed up, looked around and said:

“Wait… I left Detroit for THIS?”

He didn’t leave the Lions for Chicago.

He left the Lions for a place where Chicago is the tourist attraction.

Now his daily commute is basically:

“Welcome to Indiana. Please enjoy your stay. Chicago is 20 minutes away.”

The Bears sold him on the Windy City and delivered the windy side of the state line.

Detroit fans can finally say:

“Ben, you didn’t escape Detroit. You just drove south on I-94.”

And the best part?

He left a team in Detroit…

…to coach a team whose new home is basically Indiana’s version of Detroit.

Somewhere, Dan Campbell is laughing and saying:

“Man… that’s a tough break, brother.”
