But let’s pump the brakes on the dynasty talk before your head vein files another OSHA

complaint — because four titles in 26 years isn’t a dynasty, it’s elite consistency at

finishing just behind someone else.

For the newer guys — and for Mick’s selective memory — let’s walk through 26 years of

actual history, not the PowerPoint version that conveniently disappeared once it stopped

telling the right story.For most of this league’s existence, Mick wasn’t feared.

He was… monitored.

Because every year, like clockwork, when the playoffs hit?

Meltdown.

Vein popping.

Excuses loading.

Season over.

Another strong regular season, another proud runner-up mentality.

Championship appearances? Boat races.

Pressure moments? Escorted out.

You didn’t lose close — you lost decisively, then explained why it “didn’t count.”

And then — the crown jewel — Draft Day: The Spider Bite Incident™

One bad click.

One wrong player.

Suddenly it’s: “Guys… this is serious.”

Next thing we know, he’s half-dead, claiming medical distress, angling for a re-draft like

fantasy football has an ER clause.

Let the record show:

I was the only one who said, “Nope. You screwed up. Own it.”

Instead, the league went soft, granted a mulligan, and Mick lived to finish second another

day.

Then came the trades.

Not wins — heists.

Trading with first-timers.

Casuals.

That legendary Caroline Pettit deal that should honestly be framed and hung under “What

Not To Allow Ever Again.”

Early years?

Draft magazines.

Printed cheat sheets.

Howard at his side.

Meanwhile, the so-called “three buffoons” — me, Dave Calais, Mike Veras — kept beating

him anyway.

Which is impressive, considering how much practice Mick has had at almost being the

guy.Now let’s zoom out.

Mick loves Ohio State. Loves talking Ohio State.

A lot of talking. Very little recent payoff.

Meanwhile:

• Michigan is the winningest program in college football history

• Michigan still leads the all-time head-to-head

• Michigan basketball? National relevance

• Ohio State basketball? Participation trophies and hope

And Ohio sports in general this year?

The Browns turned the season into a public safety warning — which feels on brand for a

state that specializes in finishing strong emotionally, but not on paper.

So yes, Mick — enjoy the fourth ring.

Book the golf trip.

Take the victory lap.

Just don’t confuse a nice season with rewriting 26 years of tape.

Because six championships don’t argue.

History doesn’t forget.

And in this league, when it’s time to crown the best?

You’ve always been right there.
