The Miami Dolphins placed running back Matt Breida on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday. It's unclear if Breida tested positive for the virus or was just deemed a high-risk close contact to another individual who did. Either way, he'll be unavailable for Week 13's contest against the Bengals. It likely didn't matter for fantasy purposes, as one of Salvon Ahmed or Myles Gaskin, and potentially both, should return for this Sunday's game against Cincinnati. Even with the Dolphins cutting Jordan Howard earlier this year, Breida hasn't done much in his first season in Miami, carrying the ball 47 times for 168 yards and no touchdowns in nine games. If Gaskins returns to lead the backfield this weekend, he'll return to being an upside RB2 play against the Bengals.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Dec. 4.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida has looked awful this season and it's unlikely going to get better for him going forward. Last week, Breida saw eight carries for 36 yards in the win over the New York Jets. He has basically been a non-factor in fantasy leagues all season long. However, there is a small chance he becomes the lead back against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13. Somehow, DeAndre Washington (hamstring), Salvon Ahmed (shoulder), and Myles Gaskin (knee) are all banged up heading into this game. Breida might have fantasy value, assuming all three of them sit out, which is highly unlikely to happen.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida was the starter for the Week 12 matchup versus the New York Jets. The backfield is banged up, but Breida failed to capitalize on the extra snaps. He rushed eight times for 36 yards and hauled in two receptions for 17 yards through the air. DeAndre Washington looked much better on the ground, so he'd likely get a majority of the reps, assuming the Dolphins don't get healthy by next week. Breida can continue to be ignored in fantasy formats.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida rushed for 36 yards on eight carries against the New York Jets in Week 12. He also caught two passes for 17 yards during the game.
Fantasy Spin: Breida was part of a committee this week against the Jets and probably will see a handful of targets even when all of the running backs are healthy. Fantasy players should be able to find better options most weeks and can avoid Breida.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida has a total of 132 rushing yards heading into the Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets. It has been a rough year for him on the ground, but he doesn't exactly get a lot of touches. However, both Myles Gaskin (knee) and Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) are in danger of sitting out this week. Possibly, Breida could have some deep league value, assuming he takes over the lead back role. Although, he shouldn't be trusted in most formats.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida returned for the Week 11 matchup against the Denver Broncos after being inactive each of the last two games. He rushed twice for four yards in the loss. Salvon Ahmed remains the lead back and gets a majority of the receiving work in the backfield as well. Breida has basically had no value all season long and fantasy owners should expect that to continue. He can remain on the waiver wire in just about every format going forward.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.
Fantasy Spin: Breida should be in uniform this week but may have a limited role in the offense because of Salvon Ahmed's Week 10 performance. Fantasy players may want to keep him on the bench because of his uncertain role.
Miami Dolphins OG Solomon Kindley (foot) and LB Kyle Van Noy (hip) were limited in practice Friday, Nov. 20, and are listed as questionable for Week 11 versus the Denver Broncos. RB Matt Breida (hamstring), S Kavon Frazier (shoulder), CB Byron Jones (achilles), DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder), CB Jamal Perry (foot), TE Durham Smythe (knee) and QB Tua Tagovailoa (foot) practiced in full all week and have been removed from the injury report.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida (hamstring) was able to practice fully on Wednesday, so he's expected to suit up against the Denver Broncos in Week 11. Breida has missed two straight games, but his return isn't noteworthy. He has failed to do much damage all season long and Salvon Ahmed looked solid as the lead back in Week 10. Fantasy owners can continue ignoring Breida since he'll likely only get a handful of carries.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 19.
Fantasy Spin: Breida is on track to play in the Week 11 game but may not be the starter at running back with Salvon Ahmed playing well. Fantasy players should be able to find better options and can keep Breida on the bench.
Miami Dolphins LB Kyle Van Noy (hip) and OG Solomon Kindley (foot) were limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 19. RB Matt Breida (hamstring), S Kavon Frazier (shoulder), CB Byron Jones (Achilles), DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder), CB Jamal Perry (foot), TE Durham Smythe (knee) and QB Tua Tagovailoa (foot) practiced in full.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Fantasy Spin: Breida appears to be on track to play in the Week 11 game but it is not known if he will be the starting running back. Fantasy players can monitor the situation but probably can keep Breida on the bench.
The Miami Dolphins have declared RB Lynn Bowden, OL Adam Pankey, RB Matt Breida, RB Jordan Howard and FB Chandler Cox inactive for Week 10.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida (hamstring) has been declared inactive for the Week 10 game.
Fantasy Spin: Salvon Ahmed is on track to receive most of the work at running back with Breida still sidelined. He rushed for 38 last week and could be a flex option in deeper leagues this week.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. With Myles Gaskin (knee) also unavailable, it looks like we get a week of Patrick Laird and Salvon Ahmed mixed in. This is a backfield to avoid when it comes to fantasy, especially as Miami faces a porous passing defense, which should lead to more pass attempts for rookie Tua Tagovailoa.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida (hamstring) is likely to return to action for Week 11's game versus the Denver Broncos, according to a source.
Fantasy Spin: Although Breida had been a limited participant in all three of the team's practice sessions during the week and hasn't been ruled out for Week 10's game against the Los Angeles Chargers officially, it would be a complete surprise if he suited up for this afternoon's game. RB Salvon Ahmed should receive the bulk of the carries for the Dolphins today and is worthy of consideration as a flex option in fantasy leagues.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida (hamstring) is not expected to suit up in Week 10 against the Chargers. It's unfortunate, considering Breida would have gotten a crack at leading Miami's backfield with Myles Gaskin (knee) still on injured reserve. On a positive note, it seems that the former 49er is at least close to returning, as he was able to practice in a limited fashion this week after not being able to take the practice field the previous week. The Miami backfield is looking like one to avoid in Breida's absence, with some combination of Jordan Howard, Salvon Ahmed, and Patrick Laird handling the duties. The newly acquired DeAndre Washington could also factor in.
Miami Dolphins RB Matt Breida (hamstring) is not expected to play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10, according to a source.
Fantasy Spin: With Breida out, Salvon Ahmed should lead the backfield and has potential as a flex play. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry on seven rushes in Week 9.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida (hamstring) is questionable for Week 10 against the Chargers. Breida was a limited participant in practice this week, giving him a good chance to return to the field after sitting out in the Week 9 win over the Cardinals. The problem is Miami's backfield is riddled with uncertainty with Myles Gaskin on Injured Reserve. Jordan Howard led the way with 10 carries but rushed for just 19 yards and a touchdown last weekend. But DeAndre Washington, Patrick Laird and rookie Salvon Ahmed could also be involved, making this a situation to avoid if you can. Breida would be more of a desperation RB3/flex, at best, in much deeper leagues if he's active.
