New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) is trending toward a third consecutive absence Sunday when his team takes on the Bills, as head coach Adam Gase was not optimistic Monday that his signal caller would clear the necessary stages to get him back on the field. It seems likely that New York will stick with veteran Joe Flacco for the game in the event that Darnold is unavailable, even as the Jets were shut out Sunday by Miami. So long as Flacco is under center, New Yorks offense can be targeted by fantasy managers attempting to nab opposing defenses. Even upon his activation, Darnold will be in a rough spot from a fantasy perspective due to the Jets offensive line woes and general downturn in production from skill position players.

Oct 19 7:53pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) is making progress in his recovery, but his status for Week 7 is uncertain.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor Darnold's practice participation during the week. He would be facing a tough Buffalo Bills defense if he plays and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 2:43pm ET

The New York Jets have declared CB Quincy Wilson, QB Sam Darnold, QB James Morgan, OT Mekhi Becton, DT Nathan Shepherd and DE Jordan Willis inactive for Week 6.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 9:50am ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) has been officially ruled out for Sundays contest versus Miami, allowing veteran signal caller Joe Flacco to step in for the second consecutive week. Darnold had been optimistic about returning to the field earlier in the week, but his sprained right AC joint has not healed in time. The Jets offense is undergoing a major overhaul in the wake of both Darnolds injury and LeVeon Bells release. The Dolphins Defense should see considerable DFS and season-long appeal, as Flacco, who has limited options at his disposal, does not represent a fantasy asset. New York begins a hellacious three-game stretch next Sunday by facing the Bills, with Kansas City and New England on the horizon. Check back for updates on Darnolds status as they become available.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 16, and is listed as doubtful for Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Joe Flacco is scheduled to receive his second straight start with Darnold injured. He had a decent outing last week but should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Oct 14 12:23pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) will miss the Week 6 game.

Fantasy Spin: Joe Flacco was 18-for-33 for 195 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the 30-10 defeat last week. He's not the answer in fantasy.

From TheHuddle

Oct 14 12:20pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) will not play in Week 6 against the Dolphins, giving veteran Joe Flacco another start under center. With running back Le'Veon Bell now a free agent, it's hard to trust anyone not named Jamison Crowder in this Jets offense. Flacco went 18-for-33 for 195 yards and a touchdown in the 30-10 Week 5 loss to the Cardinals, getting sacked two times. He'll have an easier test this Sunday against the Dolphins, who allow the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing signal-callers this year. But even then, this Jets offense just has very little upside outside of Crowder, who should continue to be peppered with targets. Flacco will be a desperation QB2 in superflex leagues.

Oct 12 7:20pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) was able to throw with his injured shoulder Monday, although whether or not he can return for the teams Week 6 matchup versus Miami remains up in the air. Darnold mentioned that he was feeling much better after missing Sundays outing against Arizona, which saw Joe Flacco take the reins under center and deliver less-than-inspiring fantasy numbers. In addition to his injury, theres the possibility that head coach Adam Gase could relinquish play-calling duties, which would further throw Darnolds fantasy outlook into flux. Mentioning that he wants to return Sunday, Darnolds practice schedule throughout the week is worth keeping an eye on.

From RotoBaller

Oct 12 6:23pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold's (shoulder) status for Week 6 will not be known until later in the week, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor Darnold's practice participation this week to see if he will be able to play against the Miami Dolphins. The Jets have struggled offensively this season, so players can avoid Darnold even if he is cleared to play.

From TheHuddle

Oct 12 5:40pm ET

New York Jets head coach Adam Gase said he's considering giving up play-calling duties after the team's 0-5 start for the first time since 1996. "I don't think I'm ever opposed to try something to change things up. I'd say everything is on the table at this point," Gase said. The Jets have scored more than 20 points just once this year. Running back Le'Veon Bell continues to let his frustration with his lack of touches be known on social media. Quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) and first-round left tackle Mekhi Becton (shoulder) are hurt, and Joe Flacco was 18-for-33 for 195 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 loss to the Cardinals. Bell and wide receiver Jamison Crowder are the only Jets skill players on offense you should be trusting in your fantasy lineups on a weekly basis.

From RotoBaller

Oct 9 7:33pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and has been ruled out for Week 5.

Fantasy Spin: Joe Flacco will serve as the team's starting quarterback while Darnold is sidelined but can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 9 4:53pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. OL Mekhi Becton (shoulder) and WR Breshad Perriman (ankle) also did not practice all week and are listed as doubtful. CB Blessuan Austin (calf), S Ashtyn Davis (groin), DL John Franklin-Myers (foot), WR Chris Hogan (ribs, knee) and LB Jordan Jenkins (shoulder, calf) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and are listed as questionable. WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring), OL Chuma Edoga (shoulder), RB Frank Gore (non-injury) and LB Jordan Willis (ankle) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. The Jets did not practice Friday, so Friday's player participation is an estimation.

From TheHuddle

Oct 7 1:13pm ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 5 and is considered week-to-week moving forward.

Fantasy Spin: Joe Flacco will be the starting quarterback while Darnold is sidelined but can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 7 12:30pm ET

The New York Jets will use quarterback Joe Flacco as the starter in Week 5 against the Cardinals, according to a sources. Sam Darnold (shoulder) suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder in the Week 4 loss to the Broncos and has been ruled out. It's unclear if Darnold will be ready to go in Week 6. Flacco was active for the first time in 2020 last week after having offseason neck surgery, so there's a good chance we'll see some rust from the 35-year-old in his season and team debut this Sunday. He should be getting running back Le'Veon Bell back from Injured Reserve, but the Jets have few other reliable targets on offense for Flacco to lean on. He looked like a QB near the end in half a season with the Broncos in 2019 before his neck injury. Flacco will be strictly a desperation QB2 option in superflex leagues.

From RotoBaller

Oct 6 10:53am ET

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (shoulder) is not expected to play in Week 5 due to his separated shoulder.

Fantasy Spin: Joe Flacco will have a midrange matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. It's hard to suggest playing him in fantasy unless you're looking for a basement option in DFS.
