Player Notes
Jan 10 1:00pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) played most of the 2022 season with ankle and shoulder injuries, but he said he won't need offseason surgery. He plans to meet with "a couple doctors" about his injuries, but he assumes he will return to full health with rest this offseason. Swift suffered a high-ankle sprain in the season opener and then separated his left shoulder two weeks later, which made him a frustrating fantasy commodity for most of the year. He averaged a career-best 5.5 yards per carry on the year, but he missed three games and had a career-low 99 carries in total for 542 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games. But the 23-year-old finished strong the final two weeks and should be a big part of Detroit's rushing attack again in 2023. Swift should bounce back for fantasy managers with better health.

Jan 9 10:50am ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift rushed six times for 25 yards and caught all seven of his targets for 71 yards in the 20-16 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 18. In PPR seasonal leagues or DFS formats, he was a solid play as he finally secured all of his targets. Swift was ultimately a disappointing fantasy option as his ADP, as Jamaal Williams ate into a lot of the workload he was expected to get. The third-year running back finishes with 99 rushes for 542 yards and five rushing touchdowns and 48 receptions for 389 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Williams will be a free agent this off-season, so Swift's value could see a nice boost if he is not retained by Detroit.

Jan 6 10:50am ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift has been frustrating to figure out in fantasy this season, as his floor has been low, but his ceiling has been high. That's been a common theme among running backs this season, with Swift being one of the best examples. However, most traditional fantasy leagues have concluded, and a boom-or-bust player is perfect for DFS contests. Swift has seen 36 targets over his last six games, which always helps set a solid floor and lay a foundation for huge upside. Green Bay has allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to running backs this season, so Swift is a solid fantasy asset in all formats. However, if the Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams before this game kicks off, Detroit will already be eliminated from playoff contention, so there's also a risk the motivation could be lacking for this one.

Jan 1 5:30pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift rushed 11 times for 78 yards and a touchdown and caught all four of his targets for 39 yards and another touchdown in the 41-10 win over the Chicago Bears. Swift has been a frustrating fantasy asset this season, but he ultimately delivered when it mattered most. His season as a whole was a letdown from a fantasy football perspective, but there's a chance Jamaal Williams won't be in Detroit in 2023 since he's a free agent. Swift remains a boom-or-bust option as long as Williams is there and taking significant touches.

Dec 30 11:00am ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift has been far from a safe fantasy option this season, but since he continues to draw a ton of targets, he's worth starting in PPR leagues. Swift has seen 6.4 targets per game over his last five contests, so even if he can't score a touchdown or do much on the ground, he can deliver a solid fantasy outing for managers in their title game. Health shouldn't be a concern since he's been off the injury report for a few weeks, but his touches are still fluid week-to-week. He's an ultra-risky player in standard leagues, but he's a worth risk taking in PPR formats.

Dynasty | D'Andre Swift had 12 rushing yards and four receiving yards on just five touches in Detroit's loss to Carolina. Dynasty Analysis: Swift has remained in our top ten dynasty running backs all season, but the disappointing game results are now starting to pile up. Swift has now had fewer than 13 touches in all but two games since week one and will remain a risky proposition moving forward in the fantasy playoffs. He checks in as our RB8, but that's starting to slip.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Dec 24 4:30pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift rushed four times for 12 yards and caught just one of his five targets for 13 yards in the loss to the Carolina Panthers. Swift continues to draw enough targets to be a fantasy-relevant running back in PPR leagues, but he was not able to deliver for fantasy managers in Week 18. The Lions will face the Chicago Bears next week, who have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to running backs. That said, Swift and fellow running back Jamaal Williams are risky no matter what matchup the Lions have. Both have had plenty of dud performances this season.

Dec 23 10:20am ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift has been about as up and down as running backs come in fantasy football, but he's finally healthy and continues to have a high ceiling thanks to his pass-catching upside. Swift has seen an average of 6.75 targets over his last four games, so in PPR leagues, he's worth the risk of a down performance. The Carolina Panthers present just a neutral matchup for RBs and unlike Jamaal Williams, Swift can put together a solid fantasy outing without a touchdown. At this point in the fantasy season, it's important to play for upside rather than a "safe" floor.

From RotoBaller

Dec 18 4:30pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift rushed eight times for 52 yards and caught five of his nine targets for 23 yards in the win over the New York Jets in Week 15. Swift is fully healthy and is back to a must-start in PPR leagues since he's seeing so many targets. He didn't reach the end zone so it wasn't an explosive fantasy performance, but a 12.5-point PPR day shouldn't cost fantasy managers a win. Swift and fellow running back Jamaal Williams will draw a solid matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. Carolina just allowed touchdowns to both Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dec 16 12:50pm ET

Detroit Lions kicker D'Andre Swift is not on the injury report for Week 15, so there's a chance he could get a big workload against the New York Jets. In weeks in which Swift hasn't been on the injury report, he's averaged 14.5 carries, 4.5 targets, and 143 total yards. In weeks in which he is on the injury report, he's seen just an average of 5.1 carries, 4.5 targets, and 42.8 yards. All that said, the New York Jets have allowed the 11th-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season, so he has a wide range of outcomes. Given his preseason draft capital and the status of his health, he's virtually must-start, even though he clearly carries risk.

Dec 11 5:10pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift looked to have turned the corner in Week 13, but against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14, he totaled just 39 yards on nine touches. Neither D'Andre Swift nor Jamaal Williams scored a touchdown. Instead, Justin Jackson was the only Lions' running back to reach pay dirt. The Lions backfield has been impossible to figure out this season, and that'll likely be a common theme down the stretch.

Dec 9 4:10pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (ankle) was on the injury report and after logging a limited practice on Wednesday, but he's off the final injury report and practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. He will be active against the Minnesota Vikings. Swift's usage has varied mightily this season, but last week was a great sign for his fantasy outlook. He out-touched Jamaal Williams 18 to 11, including 14 rushes to Williams' 11. He also scored a touchdown. That said, he could be on his way to being the clear featured back that most fantasy managers expected. Things could change in a hurry, but he should be considered a must-start in a neutral matchup for running backs. The game total is set at 52, so this could be a big fantasy day for a lot of players in this matchup.

From RotoBaller

Dec 8 5:30pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (ankle) returned to a full practice on Thursday after he was listed as limited on Wednesday. Barring some sort of setback on Friday, Swift should be all systems go for a Week 14 meeting with the Minnesota Vikings. The 23-year-old has been a frustrating RB in fantasy all year, but he saw over 50 percent of the offensive snaps last week for the first time since Week 8. Swift appears to be getting healthier towards the end of the season and should continue to have a bigger role in Detroit's backfield, but the problem is that Jamaal Williams has been a touchdown vulture and isn't going away anytime soon. But with added touches coming his way, Swift has been bumped up to the RB2 tier in fantasy.

From RotoBaller

Dec 7 6:10pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Swift was completely removed from the injury report last week and went on to handle his most touches since the season opener, so hopefully, the Lions are just playing it safe with their third-year back ahead of a Week 14 bout with the Minnesota Vikings. Fantasy managers need to monitor practice reports throughout the week but should still expect Swift to be active on Sunday.

From RotoBaller

Dec 5 12:13pm ET

Dynasty | D'Andre Swift led all Lions' running backs with 18 touches, producing 62 yards and a touchdown across 14 carries. Dynasty Analysis: He also reeled in 4-of-6 targets for 49 yards. The touch volume matched his week-one output and he outpaced Jamaal Williams for the first time since week one as well. Appearing fully healthy, it's uncertain what to expect from the running back duo as Williams continues to produce while leading the league in touchdown production with 14. Swift is undeniably one of the most dynamic backs with the ball in his hands but cannot remain off the trainer's table when volume increases. Whether this remains a consistent theme into the future or not, Swift has already seen a slide in his dynasty value, now appearing as DLF's RB6. He remains a shaky RB1 as the off-season approaches.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Dec 4 4:20pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift has been a frustrating player to roster this season as Jamaal Williams has controlled the backfield touches. However, Swift handled 18 touches for 111 total yards and a touchdown in the 40-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Lions are still in the playoff mix, so there's a chance they continue to ramp up Swift's workload. If he starts to get double-digit touches each week, he could regain his must-start status as an RB1 candidate with lots of receiving upside. This Lions' offense is one of the best in the league, so he has plenty of touchdown upside, too.

From RotoBaller

Dec 2 10:20am ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift has failed to emerge as the primary ball carrier as Jamaal Williams leads the league in touchdowns, but there were some promising signs in the Thanksgiving game against the Buffalo Bills. Swift saw eight targets and came within inches of scoring a touchdown on at least three occasions. This week, Swift hasn't been on the injury report, so perhaps he's all the way back from his early-season shoulder and ankle injury. Ultimately, his floor has proven not to be safe, but in PPR leagues, he still has upside as one of the best pass-catching running backs in the NFL. Detroit faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13, in what shapes up to be a shootout.

From RotoBaller

Nov 30 10:10pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift is not listed on the Week 13 injury report and put in a full practice on Wednesday. Swift has been battling ankle and shoulder injuries all year, but he's apparently as close to 100 percent as he's going to be heading into this weekend's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Buffalo Bills last Thursday, Swift played just 34 percent of the offensive snaps and carried five times for 19 yards, adding four catches for 24 yards. He hasn't played more than 50 percent of the snaps since Week 8 and has been losing valuable between-the-tackles and goal-line touches to Jamaal Williams. Perhaps Swift will see more of the backfield share now that he's off the injury report, but until it actually happens, he'll be a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex for fantasy managers.

From RotoBaller

Nov 24 4:20pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift rushed five times for 19 yards and caught four of his eight targets for 24 yards in the 28-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He also rushed for a two-point conversion. It's frustrating to see another lackluster day for Swift, but eight targets could be a positive sign in PPR leagues moving forward. It's also worth noting he came within a few yards of a touchdown on at least three occasions. The Lions offense is here to stay as at least an above-average unit, so hopefully, Swift's best days are ahead as the fantasy football playoff approach.

From RotoBaller

Nov 23 10:50pm ET

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (shoulder, ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation against the Buffalo Bills for the Thanksgiving game. He logged back-to-back full practices, and all systems go against the Bills. The 23-year-old rushed five times for 20 yards and a touchdown while catching all three of his targets for 12 yards in last Sunday's 31-18 win over the Giants. The Lions used a backfield committee between Swift, Jamaal Williams, and Justin Jackson in Week 12. Swift is an RB3/flex play against a Bills defense that ranks seventh in DVOA against the run.
