The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could cut tight end Cameron Brate this offseason, as they are projected over the salary cap and will look to make cuts for cap purposes. By cutting Brate, the Bucs would save $2 million in cap space. Running back Leonard Fournette, kicker Ryan Succop, and left tackle Donovan Smith could also be cap casualties. Brate caught 20 passes for 170 yards over 11 games in 2022. He took a backseat to rookie Cade Otton, who became Tampa Bay's top pass-catching tight end in 2022. Brate could provide tight end depth and a reliable target for another team if he does become a cap casualty this offseason.

Jan 18 12:40pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate scored his first touchdown of the season in the 31-14 wild-card loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. Brate had just one catch on three targets for an eight-yard touchdown. Fantasy managers were expecting much more from the 31-year-old in 2022 with Rob Gronkowski retired, but Brate wasn't much of a factor and rookie Cade Otton was a much bigger part of the passing attack. In 11 regular season games, Brate finished with 20 receptions on 38 targets for just 174 yards and no touchdowns. It was the first regular season that he failed to find the end zone. With Otton likely to continue developing, the Buccaneers may decide to move on from Brate this offseason.

Jan 1 12:20pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate is a healthy scratch and will not play in Week 17 in a big divisional showdown against the Carolina Panthers. Brate's disappointing 2022 continues after he played just eight offensive snaps in last week's overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals. He was expected to be a much bigger part of Tampa's offense this year with no Rob Gronkowski around, but that hasn't worked out for him. The 31-year-old hasn't scored a single touchdown and has secured 20 of his 38 targets for 174 yards in 10 games played (one start). With Brate inactive this weekend, rookie Cade Otton has a prime opportunity to come through for fantasy managers brave enough to stream him against Carolina.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have declared WR Breshad Perriman, TE Cameron Brate, DL Carl Nassib, CB Carlton Davis and QB Kyle Trask inactive for Week 17.

From TheHuddle

Dec 19 12:00am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate caught two of four targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 34-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He continues to share snaps with rookie tight end Cade Otton but out-targeted the rookie 4-to-1 in Sunday's defeat. Brate has caught at least two passes in three straight games but has yet to find the end zone this season. The 31-year-old has racked up 20 receptions for 174 yards across nine games. Brate is a dart throw at best in deep-league formats in a favorable matchup against the Cardinals in Week 16.

Dec 18 10:23pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate posted two catches for 25 yards on his four targets in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

From TheHuddle

Dec 10 12:30am ET

The good news is that Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate (illness) is off the injury report. The bad news is that he likely won't contribute to any fantasy rosters in Week 14. Brate has only 16 receptions for 137 yards and hasn't scored a touchdown through 13 weeks this season. The Buccaneers have plenty of weapons for quarterback Tom Brady, including rookie tight end Cade Otton, meaning targets should be difficult for Brate to find. Facing a 49ers defense that ranks sixth in DVOA versus opposing tight ends, this is a bad matchup for the veteran. Brate should be on fantasy benches heading into Week 14, if not the waiver wire.

DT Vita Vea (foot, shoulder) was limited during practice but is not on the injury report. TE Cameron Brate (illness) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (illness) practiced Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Spin: Brate missed the Week 13 game against the Saints due to an illness but appears on track to return. Regardless, managers shouldn't trust him in fantasy lineups.

Dec 8 9:00am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate (illness) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The 31-year-old was sick and missed Monday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Brate will be active Sunday against the 49ers if he can fully practice the rest of the week. The veteran is in a timeshare with rookie tight end Cade Otton and has caught just 16 passes for 137 yards over seven games in 2022. Brate is off the fantasy radar for Week 14 against a 49ers defense that ranks sixth in DVOA versus opposing tight ends.

Dec 5 7:10pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate (illness) is officially inactive for the Monday night game against the New Orleans Saints. It comes as a bit of a surprise after Brate returned to a full practice on Saturday, but he'll miss the game anyway while being under the weather. The 31-year-old, who still hasn't scored a touchdown this year, will miss his fifth game of the season. With Brate out of the picture, rookie Cade Otton will have some TE2 streaming appeal in DFS for Monday night's game. Kyle Rudolph and Ko Kieft could also be involved. In his first 10 NFL games in 2022, Otton has caught 26 of his 35 targets for 281 yards and one touchdown.

Dec 5 6:53pm ET

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have declared DB Sean Murphy-Bunting, S Mike Edwards, S Antoine Winfield Jr., OT Tristan Wirfs, WR Breshad Perriman, QB Kyle Trask and TE Cameron Brate inactive for Week 13.

From TheHuddle

Dec 3 4:00pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate (illness) practiced in full on Saturday. He has been under the weather, so he didn't suit up for the team's previous practice sessions over the last two days. That said, Brate remains questionable ahead of Monday night's meeting with the Saints. However, his upgraded designation is a positive sign, so he will probably be out there barring a setback. The 31-year-old hasn't scored a touchdown this season, and he's also totaled just five catches in the last three games. As a result, fantasy managers should consider other options at the tight end spot for Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Dec 3 3:33pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Tristan Wirfs (ankle, knee) did not practice all week and was ruled out for Week 13 on Saturday, Dec. 3. Also, S Mike Edwards (hamstring) and S Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle) did not practice and are doubtful, CB Sean Murphy-Bunting (quadriceps) was limited and is doubtful, TE Cameron Brate (illness), RB Leonard Fournette (hip), OL Luke Goedeke (foot) and WR Russell Gage Jr. (hamstring) practiced in full but are questionable, DL Akiem Hicks (foot) and DL Vita Vea (foot) were limited and are questionable, LB Lavonte David (rest) did not practice but carries no designation, and QB Tom Brady (rest), WR Mike Evans (rest), WR Julio Jones (rest) and OL Nick Leverett (shoulder) practiced in full and were removed from the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Dec 3 3:33pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (illness) was a full participant in practice on Saturday, Dec. 3, but is listed as questionable for Week 13.

Fantasy Spin: Brate's fantasy stock is in the toilet, especially after the emergence of rookie Cade Otton. The veteran can be left on waivers.

From TheHuddle

Dec 2 11:50pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate (illness) missed his second straight practice this week on Friday with an illness. If Brate doesn't return to practice on Saturday, there's a good chance he won't be available to play on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints. But even if the 31-year-old veteran tight end is out there in Week 13, he's not even much of a realistic TE2 streamer in fantasy with rookie Cade Otton's emergence. Brate is still searching for his first touchdown of the 2022 season in seven games and has only 16 receptions on 29 targets for 137 yards. In his last two games, he's hauled in three of his seven targets for 23 yards. Look elsewhere.
