With his team facing a must-win scenario, Toronto Blue Jays veteran George Springer will be in the lineup for Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the visiting Seattle Mariners on Sunday evening.
Springer, who departed Game 5 after being struck on the right knee by a Bryan Woo pitch in the seventh inning on Friday, will be back in his customary lead-off spot and serve as the designated hitter for the Blue Jays.
Toronto trails the series 3-2 after winning two of three games in Seattle.
Springer, 36, produced a tremendous bounce-back season in 2025, posting a career-best in batting average (.309), while smashing 32 home runs, driving in 84 runs, stealing 18 bases and racking up a .959 OPS.
Springer owns 22 home runs in 76 career postseason games.
Toronto rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage will make his third postseason start after taking the ball three times as a starter late in the regular season. He will be opposed by righty Logan Gilbert, who has posted a 2.45 ERA in three 2025 playoff games (two starts).
Seattle is 3-0 when Gilbert has taken the mound this postseason.
